“Fantastic supper”
Reviewed February 17, 2014 via mobile

We were able to get a seat without a reservation but I recommend making one. All staff were super friendly . Food and drinks were replenished timely. We had the Greek meatballs to start. You won't regret it! Had spaghetti and hubby had penne. I know not too Greek but delicious anyways. Fairly priced as well.

“Amazing Greek food”
Reviewed February 17, 2014

We had found a menu on one of the "Banff eating guides" in our hotel and decided to visit Balkan especially to try a particular dish. We were disappointed that such dish was no longer on the menu. HOWEVER, and this is a big however, we thoroughly enjoyed both food and service there.
We had the Pita bread with 3 dips as a starter (hummus, spicy feta and tzatziki) and then we ordered two reg. size salads. Had we know how big those salads were going to be - we probably wouldn't have ordered the pita and spreads!

The salads were full of tomato, cucumber, onion, olives...they were large (for a small size!) and very tasty!
We couldn't finish them as we had stuffed ourselves on bread (actually we also received complementary bread rolls with olive oil and balsamic as we arrived.

We also recommend booking ahead as the place was very full and the only reason we got a table just by showing up is that it wasn't even 5.30pm yet!

“Everything Greek and delicious”
Reviewed February 16, 2014

We went here on a double date for lunch, and it was very, very good. Having been there for dinner, I think I prefer lunch as it's quieter and less crowded. The service was excellent and all our meals were too. I had a greek salad and shared some potatoes, there's not much on the menu for vegetarians, but both items were delicious. My friend enjoyed the calamari immensely and we would definitely go back.

“Great place for lunch ”

The food was very tasty and the potions were quite large. You could split a dish if you are not super hungry. Fast and friendly service. Reasonable prices. We will be back.

“Balkan didnt disappoint”
Reviewed February 11, 2014

This was our second time at the restaurant and it was as good if not better than our first. I had made reservations beforehand, (highly recommended since it can get quite packed), and even though we were a bit early, our table was ready. Although the food itself was excellent, it was the server that really stood out as the epitome of customer service. Best of all was the fact that a lot of their dishes are made without wheat gluten and that those with gluten sensitivity can rest assured that the gluten-free dishes are made separately to prevent cross-contamination. This was a sigh of relief to my girlfriend who has Celiac's disease. The only minor complaint I might have was that we were seated at the center of the restaurant, rather than someplace more out of the way, but it was a minor inconvenience. One thing to note, this is NOT a quiet eating establishment, and they often host large gatherings so if you are looking for a quiet romantic dinner this is not the place to go. But if you don't mind a boisterous atmosphere, (it is a greek restaurant after all), and are looking for a good dining experience that won't leave you bankrupt, then give this place a try.
