This was our second time in Banff for the best snowboarding on the planet! Banff is a great little town with everything you need. The hotel is at the bottom end of the avenue but well within walking distance to the main of the shops and restaurants. The hotel it self was spot-less. We had a suit as there was a few of us and it was very spacious. Everything was very modern and comfy. There were huge tellys on the walls of the three rooms. Little kitchenette with microwave, fridge, sink oven. Rooms were cleaned every day to a great standard.

Underground in the middle of the hotel is a fitness suit. You need to take your room key down and a quarter for the lockers. There is a sauna jacizzi gym and a small pool. Perfect for the evenings after a day on the slopes!

There is a Chillies restaurant on the ground floor. Food is great. But do explore because there are lots of great places to eat and drink. We found a great place called Mallissas. Its down the road with subway on it, you walk to the end of the road and turn left. Its pretty cheap and has brilliant food. They do daily specials, steaks pizza, more or less everything!

Staff through out Canada are brilliant. The hotel staff were great. They are very helpful and friendly.

We took advantage of a room upgrade and stayed in a delux suite for very little extra. The on site spa was very clean and inviting and did not cost any more.
The breakfast was freshly prepared and varied, with plenty on offer.
All of the staff were delightful and extremely helpful as well as very knowledgeable about local resorts and amenities.
Location in Banff was ideal - five minutes stroll from the centre with free use of the shuttle bus if required.
We would definitely return when we next visit Banff!

A good room, but no air-conditioning in standard rooms. Maybe the staff should have mentioned the local controlled fires that burn overnight. An open window allowed the room to fill with smoke fumes.

Apart from that, it has a nice spa with hot pools and jacuzzi.

Parks Canada conducts prescription burning throughout all parks in Canada for a variety of environmental reasons. I am sorry to hear that during your stay, the winds brought the smoke this way. Our front desk agents certainly could have mentioned the scheduling of the burn, but as you know, we have a lengthy spiel upon check in, and for the most part we are rarely bothered by the smoke.

As you mentioned, our standard rooms do not have air conditioning, for future stays I would suggest upgrading to a suite.

I am glad to hear you enjoyed our grotto hot pool. This unique feature of our property is a focal point that receives positive feedback time and time again.

We stayed at The Fox for 3 nights in May and we were very impressed. I booked this hotel due to the great reviews on Tripadvisor and my expectations were exceeded! I think one of the keys to this was the fact that we were able to upgrade to a one bedroom loft apartment for not much more money. Boy, was this room excellent! Views of the surrounding mountains, high ceilings, great little kitchenette, very spacious. The staff was friendly and informative and breakfast (included in the price) was great. The hotel is very clean and well maintained and we thought it was an admirable bonus to have free high speed internet and free local calls. The Fox was a pleasure to return to each day after a long hike.

On a short trip to Canada we decided to spend a few days in the rockies. As a point
from where we could make short trips arround we were advised by friends to chose
Banff. Allthough we were warned that it is still skiing season and therefor accomodation
still could be a little more expensive, we checked the internet and found "The Fox".
when we arrived it was quickly very clear, the pictures shown in the internet showed the truth ( which not always happens ), even Peter ( the reception manager from the clip ) welcomed us. What the pictures could not show was the warm atmosphere in this nice
wooden building. Allthough it is a big hotel, you don´t see it from the outside.

The room we had was clever furnished and styled. So you din´t get the feeling that it
was a small ( hotel ) room, we felt very comfortable. The housekeping staff was friendly
and kept the room clean, and we mean clean.
Breakfast was with a great choice of cereals, cheese, jam, .... , so everybody could
serve his needs. We enjoied it. And the restaurant was a mixture of Sportsbar ( big flatscreen TV plus some small TV sets ) and Restaurant. For young people it is quite
nice, but we think, that older guests might feel uncomfortable. On the other side
Banff is a Sports city, so most guests will enjoy this atmosphere ( we did ).
The food in the restaurant was excellent, really really good, and the portions served
us completely ( and i can take a lot ).
The attraction of the hotel is the hot pool. Designed like a cave with a roof opening
to the outside. It is quite funny, sitting in the hot cave watching the snow falling.
A really relaxing situation.
Another very nice feature is the free of charge underground parking. When we were
in Banff, the end of April, it was still snowing, not that much, but how it would be in winter
time when it "is snowing" - every day the car searching game. So this helps guests
a lot to feel comfortable.
One thing to mention, when we told our friends where we go in Banff, they said that the
hotel is not in the center of Banff. Right, but Banff is not that big, so, within a
4-5 minutes walk you are in the center plus now you know where "Starbucks" is.

Whenever we come back to Banff, and this will happen, we will chose "The Fox" again,
we felt welcomed and served.

Service - Fantastic, the employees were very friendly and accomodating.

Room - Beautiful. We thought we were getting a regular room but it was actually a one bedroom suite. It was a courtyard view, but you could still see the mountains. There was a fireplace, dining/kitchette area, living area with a great flat screen wall-mounted TV and also in the bedroom there was a flat screen wall mounted TV. The bed had tons of pillows and was so comfy! The bathroom was a little tiny but there was lots of space for our things. And I loved the shower!

Amenities - The Chilis Restaurant was excellent, probably the best Chilis we've had, way better than any in Calgary. The hot pool was amazing, definitly try it out! Although it's not very big and we found it got very crowded with young people drinking. I think this hotel needs another regular pool in order to accomodate everyone. The location is great, it's right on Banff Avenue and just a short walk to all the stores/shops, and nightlife. Also, the undergrond parking and wireless intenet was free which was a great bonus.

Overall we loved this hotel and can't wait to go back!!
