Our 3rd stay out of the 4 times we visited banff, and we’ll probably stay here on our 5th trip. We always stay in the 1-bedroom loft suite, with 2 complete baths and a spacious living room, it sleeps 6 persons comfortably. We love the hotel’s perfect location – not too close from the busy downtown, and not too far that’s it’s still steps away from downtown. Free bus passes are available at the front desk if you want to roam around Banff, and the complimentary hot breakfast always made our day off to a great start.

It is so great to read that we've made loyal guests with you! We certainly appreciate your business, as well as your kind remarks on our property and the services we provide.

I must point out for our readers however, that we offer a complimentary continental breakfast, with the only hot items being toast and waffles.

We look forward to your 5th stay with us.

We've traveled to three different continents over 40 years, & this ranks as one of our worst experiences. We stayed in a nice enough hotel last year, but based on such strong positive reviews, we & our travel companions booked two double rooms at The Fox months ago & then updated the reservation a couple weeks ahead (when rates fell) - only to get single beds & tiny pull-outs in matchbox rooms. The desk supervisor took 10 mins. before he'd even speak to me & was then most unhelpful. To ice the cake, our bathroom had no light over the mirror so you couldn't see what you were doing. The toilet was well lit though! In addition to this, there was a single elevator for all guests & even maintenance staff. It was excruciatingly slow.

Chili's in-house breakfast was a sad joke: STALE pastries & COLD hard boiled eggs. There was NO oatmeal, meat, nor warm food other than make-your-own waffles. We thought the waitress had mistakenly brought us tea when she poured this mawkish liquid into our cups. We asked for stronger coffee & the sweet girl made us a pot of proper coffee - the sole bright spot of our stay. Later we found a fabulous café, Toloulou's, in town where we had a real breakfast & went straight back there the next morning, ditching the garbage at The Fox/Chilis. But of course, this added significant cost to our stay.

I am at a loss to know how The Fox is earning such high marks & can only hazard a guess that the unfortunate staff are required to write glowing reviews for their bosses. Nothing could ruin our trip to beautiful Banff, but The Fox Hotel & Suites certainly tried. Would give it ZERO marks if I could!

Thank you for sharing your feedback. I am very disappointed to read such a negative review. I must point out that you received the room you had booked. We have nothing to hide, and post pictures, floor plans, square footage and even a virtual tour on our website.

Our complimentary continental breakfast has a variety of items: coffee/tea, juices, fruit, yogurt, cereals, cold hard boiled eggs, pastries and muffins, toast and preserves and a make-your-own waffle station. There is no cost to our guests. We do not claim to offer the hot items you have mentioned, nor do we force our guests to eat here. We have restaurants within walking distance that offer full hot breakfasts, and we provide a charge card, so you can charge the bill back to your room for convenience, it you are someone that prefers a hot breakfast.

Our staff are not 'unfortunate'. Nor do we suggest they 'make up reviews.' This violates Trip Advisor rules, and is a slanderous remark.

The Trip Advisor community will most certainly make up their own minds, and weigh in the comments of the many other guests that have posted reviews.

On arrival the receptionist Suzanne could not have been more helpful. The service from other reception staff, Mr Perara, continued in this vein for the three days we were there. Nothing was too much trouble. We were given breakfast vouchers as part of our package and free passes for the local 'Roam' buses. Although we tended to walk (10 minutes) to where the shops were, we did use the bus on one of our return journeys from Banff Springs.

We upgraded to a suite as our room wasn't ready when we arrived. What a good decision! Although we didn't get to see any of the rooms, our suite gave us plenty of space, natural light and a balcony overlooking Tunnel Mountain. The only problem was the air con unit for the hotel(?) outside of the entrance to our room. This was very noisy but we got used to it. It didn't stop us from sleeping.

The rooms were cleaned every day and were very clean and well appointed. There was plenty of hanging space in the wardrobes and various cupboards in the entrance hall to the suite.

We ate in the hotel most of the time for breakfast and evening meals. There was a fairly good selection of meals (adequate for our needs) and a good atmosphere. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Room Tip: We had the corner suite with a good view but noisy air con unit nearby.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom deluxe suite for two nights in August and found the rooms to be extremely spacious, clean and well-furnished. Our accommodation was really a large one bedroom unit with an interconnecting door to a larger one bedroom suite, so my 19 year old son was delighted to have his own entrance door, own bathroom and facilities (fridge, coffee maker, etc.) but could "chill out" with us in the larger sitting area and use the kitchenette in this area.
The reception staff were very efficient and check-in and - out was quick.
It was useful having a restaurant on site when we arrived, absolutely ravenous, mid afternoon and the continental breakfast was good. However, Chili's could probably benefit from a refurbishment - slightly dated décor and a pretty shabby carpet.
The property was quiet despite being on Banff Avenue and, although a little out of town, it was only about a pleasant 15 minute walk to get to the main area of shops and restaurants (there are other restaurants literally on the doorstep!).
Excellent underground parking, the hot tub area looked great but we didn't use it.
Overall a very good stay.

Our kids loved the hot pool feature of this hotel - natural hot springs water feeds this attractive pool set-up and was the highlight for us. The hotel is a a bit dated in terms of room decor and a bit far too walk to the main center (there is a bus service called ROAM you can use), hence the rating of average. Great features: parking, wifi, and breakfast is included in the hotel rate. Not so great: breakfast is really cheap continental buffet (think Hamptons or Best Western), and the parking garage is quite tight to navigate.
We booked a one bedroom suite, which meant a pull-out coach on the main floor (once pulled out, there was no space left on that level to walk), and two double-beds downstairs in a semi- basement setting. Unfortunately, not much space there either, and only one bathroom caused a bit of "traffic problems" in the morning for a family of four.

Room Tip: Facing the inner court would give you a quieter sleep than facing the street.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. For a family of four, our standard hotel rooms, would indeed be tight. I would suggest booking a two bedroom suite. This would offer ample room, as well as a second bathroom, and kitchen facilities. Our hotel is Banff's newest, and our décor reflects a cabin feel. We appreciate your comments, and hope we can welcome you back again.

We loved it here. We had a suite with a balcony overlooking Banff Avenue and the mountains in the background. The room was very comfortable and a little pricey, but we would stay there again! They also offered a free continental breakfast.

Room Tip: Get a room with a balcony.
