We "hiked" (walked) this trail to find the geocache hidden there. It is extremely mundane compared to anything else we did in the area. And to echo some of the other reviews, the mosquitos were horrible...between the mosquitos and the flat terrain, we felt like we were back home in the swamps of Louisiana. Not sure we saw any wildlife other than a squirrel.

I know mosquito repellent is needed anywhere in Banff in the summer, but on this trail it's really needed. Not a beautiful trail, but easy and peaceful. But I'd prefer walking along the Bow River, and certainly up Tunnel Mountain. Was the least interesting trail we took in the area.

Nice and easy trail for beginners, close to Legacy trail (along the hwy), so if you don't like MB, you can always switch to paved road.

The June 2013 floods turned a pretty little creek into a raging torrent here and wiped out paths, boardwalks and picnic tables. Town of Banff/Parks Canada is doing a great job rebuilding but, like everything, it takes time. The picnic tables are back, the bridge is clear. There's debris evidence in the creek itself and the paths are hard-packed silt making the ground a bit uneven. Right now I wouldn't recommend it for anyone with mobility/balance issues when walking. (Take the drive the next turn south and go along the lakeshore instead.) Still a beautiful area, normally full of wildflowers, and very natural.

It is a walk around a wooded area overlooking a tributary to the Bow River. Very convenient to get to, just a 2 min walk from Banff Centre and very flat if you do not want to exert yourself. NDoesn't take long (20 minutes), is free and is nice enough.

So is "Poor" a bit harsh? There are better trails in Banff than this, like the walk along the Bow River Falls. Being in such a stunning location it was frankly disappointing.
