“Decent stay - some issues”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

pretty lodge like room. View of the main drag in Banff - could hear traffic all night, especially motorcycles. I am not a fan of sinks being separate from the toilet/shower area. A small garbage can and shelf in the toilet/shower area would be appreciated. Loved the guest laundry facility - $3.00 for a wash - free dryer. Slow elevator. Good breakfast at the Bumpers restaurant. Never got there for dinner. Check in service was good. Free dvd rentals at the front desk - she helped me pick a movie... very sweet of her. The place is due for an upgrade - but a decent stay overall

Room Tip: I think the back side (not on Banff Avenue) would be quieter

We stayed in a king room and it was fantastic. The room was beautiful and had a nice balcony. We went down to the hot tub area - there is also a pool and exercise room - and it was beautiful. We were really impressed with our stay. It is a little further from the downtown strip but we didn't really want to be staying right in the middle of downtown, so it was great for us.

We stayed here for 1 night..and upon check-in, the manager told us that they were overbooked, therefore he was upgrading us to a fancier room! A nice surprise, and it was a beautiful, 2-story room with jacuzzi and sitting room upstairs. We slept great and never heard a sound from elsewhere, in spite of the fact that our room faced the street. There are several computers/printers for hotel guest use in the lobby. We had a very nice breakfast with excellent service in the restaurant. We loved the location...easy walking (or bus) distance to the busy downtown area of Banff, but in a quieter section of the main street. They have bikes available at no charge, first come first serve. They also have DVDs which can be borrowed from the front desk and a take 1/leave 1 library in the lobby. I would definitely stay here again.

We were very happy with our stay at the Rundlestone. The location is not great; you either need to walk about 30 minutes to the town, or take a quick drive.

The hotel offers free bike rentals, which can come in handy. There are also a long list of DVDs you can borrow from the front desk. These are nice little touches that enhanced our experience!

The rooms are a bit outdated. We got a "pool view", with a twin and queen. Given it was just the two of us, this didn't really help. The pool view blocks a lot of natural light as there are no direct windows to the outside.

The service was very friendly - they responded very quickly to our requests for additional toiletries and coffee.

Other than a mix up with our arrival date (which caused a brief moment of panic, as to whether we would get a room) we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
The staff were very helpful and friendly, and ready to help/offer advice with any query. Staff tended not to be local, i.e. from Australia and the U.K which was not a problem for service but we didn't really ask them for their local knowledge. There is however a good visitor centre in town.

The facilities were excellent, the free DVD for use in your room was a nice bonus to have for just chilling out. The pool was nice and clean and the hot tub lovely for relaxing.

The rooms were clean, and the beds very comfortable. The black out curtains were a huge bonus for having a good night sleep. Wifi is free and a good connection.

The restaurant on site was ok, but there are infinitely better restaurants in town. We highly recommend the Balkan (greek restaurant) especially on Tuesday/Thursday for Greek night.

The hotel is located approx 10-15min walk from the town centre, there is also a bus that runs up and down the main road, with a bus stop just outside the hotel. They are not that frequent, approx every 30-45 minutes, but are cheap enough for single trips. The bus also runs up to the Gondola and hot springs from outside the hotel which is really useful.

Overall a lovely stay, we would definitely stay again.

The lobby of the hotel is wonderful but the rooms need to be updated. While there is plenty of storage space, the decor is outdated. The bed was extremely comfortable which is always important to me. The restaurant was nothing to be impressed about. You'll find better restaurants downtown. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We had a leak in our AC and they quickly moved us to a new room for the last night of our stay.

This is my second time at this hotel in one month. I rebooked here primarily because of the good sleep quality and free, fast internet. Beds are comfortable, good air conditioning, effective black-out blinds, and quiet hallways. Tub is great for a soak. Rooms are very nicely appointed and very comfortable. On our second visit, we had a larger room - but unfortunately it did not have black out curtains which was disappointing as the room was quite bright. Other than that, everything was perfect. Front staff very helpful. Fridge and coffee maker in room - although no decaf and no tea. Location is removed from the town - probably a 20 min walk at least. Bus stop right in front and the hotel provides complimentary bicycles. I will stay again but make sure I have a room with black out curtains.

Room Tip: If you want to sleep past 5am, make sure your room has black out curtains.
