We stayed at the Rundlestone Lodge in a loft suite. While it was very nice with a view of the mountains, it did have some drawbacks. The bedroom was upstairs with the bathroom downstairs.
If you need the facilities at night, it can be a bit tricky. The stairs are fairly steep. The kitchenette was a bit strange. It came with pots, pans, ect. but there was only a microwave for cooking, so any real cooking is not possible. The room was clean, and bikes are free for customer use. Overall I would say the lodge compares favorably with other options in the area.

A group of 6 of us chose this hotel for our July long weekend Banff stop over and were happy with our accommodation. Nothing outstanding as far as the rooms go - each of the 3 rooms sounded quite different so no "standard:" room really. The young man at the reception desk was quite friendly and helpful. Because the rooms did not have a refrigerator we asked if one could be made available and lo and behold a few minutes later one magically appeared at our door - not just a standard tiny bar fridge but a minature regular fridge - perfect for our own refreshments and breakfast items. The bar staff were a lot of fun and the manager very accommodating (we will forgive him for being a Calgary Flames fan). The location of the hotel was far enough away from the noisy downtown area but close enough to walk to the restaurants and shops. All in all a good experience but ... have to admit a bit on the pricey side. Have to take into consideration our stay was in "high season". Would not have paid this for a mid winter stay.

Room Tip: Call the hotel and ask for their best rate before booking with a booking agency. We discovered that...

After two weeks in the USA visiting friends but staying in hotels, I decided to visit Banff on the way home. After American hotels and hospitality the indifferent welcome I got on checking in at the Rundlestone was a bit of a shock. Seems to be a common comment on TA - why don't they do something about it?

I hated my room - dark, dingy and depressing. I told the manager on my departure and he said they are being refurbished next year. The bathroom was clean, but because the room itself was brown it looked dirty.

Also, they make a big thing out of their huge TVs and DVD recorders in each room, but they don't have the basics, like a full length mirror, door chain, let alone an in-room fridge or in-room safe.

I only had breakfast once, and it was fine, but you have to pay separately, they can't add it to your bill.

Incidentally, while I was waiting for the airport bus on my departure, was it really appropriate for the manager to talk to a member of his staff about another member of staff "having a girl in his room"??

Location was fine - yes it's further away from downtown than most hotels, but it's a pleasant walk and on the last night walking back from dinner I followed two elks up the road!

I feel I'm missing the plot as it has TA awards, but speak as you find and I found it awful!

My wife & I booked for 3 nights, admittedly we arrived before the 2pm check in time, but it was as much as the receptionist could do to advise we could either wait or leave our bags with her until the room was ready. We decided to leave our bags & go down the road to get some lunch. On our return about 3pm the room was ready & we were given the key. No further information seemed to be forthcoming & so we went to the room. Initially we had booked a 'superior room' but prior to arrival our travel agent adived that Rundlestone had reclassified these as 'standard rooms'. When we entered the room we could only describe it as 'basic'. The bathroom contained the bath & toilet. The wash basin was in the corner of the room & the clothes hanging space was open ie no doors. Before unpacking we went back to reception to check we had the correct room assignment only to receive a fairly bland response, blaming our agent. The rest of the room was ok & it was located at the front of the hotel that overlooked the road & a mountain which we were advised was a selling point. At no point when we went out or came in did the receptionist make any attempt to wish us a pleasant day or even offer a smile. We took breakfast in the dining room on two mornings & dinner on one - the food was good & the staff very pleasant.. On check out I did speak to the manager about these items & he in effect said all our other clients had a good experince to whit the positie responses on TripAdvissor (the reason why we selcted this hotel). Overall a very average experience, not what we would expect from a resort hotel.

We were booked in a part of a tour, but we would happily go back again. The room was very comfy, clean& relaxing. The bath was brilliant! The staff were friendly& the restaurant had lovely food, especislly the breakfasts. Although its a slightly further walk into town than some places, thats good as you don't have the party revellers disturbing you, and its amongst some other hotels with lovely retaurants too. We would love to go back one day.

We spent three nights at the Rundlestone Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. This is a lovely hotel with very nice staff and good service. Our room was spacious, comfortably furnished and equipped with a new looking tv and a coffee pot. Electric kettles are available for tea making, so your cup of tea doesn't taste faintly of coffee! Housekeeping did a great job of keeping our room impeccably clean and tidy. The staff were all friendly, helpful and showed a professional attitude.
The in room WiFi was speedy and worked very well.
We did not eat dinner in the restaurant, but we did eat breakfast on two mornings. The food was fresh and tasty, but a bit expensive.
Our one disappointment is that there was no refrigerator in our room. Apart from this, well done, Rundlestone Lodge! We would love to stay here again.
