Let's say my expectations were a bit high. Nice hotel in Banff.
It turned out to be an average one that had its glory days back in the 80s
My room was dark with a window on the pool. There was a sulphur smell in the room. Maybe a hot source nearby... Who knows.

You are at the far end of the strip. The weather was nice. In the winter @ -15c I'm not sure I would have walk to the city center.

So, if you are looking for a place to sleep that will fit the bill. If you are planning for a special event, I would go elsewhere

We stayed for one night mid-week, so the hotel wasn't really busy since it was a little off season. The room was very clean and comfortable and we would definitely stay there again.
The only criticism is that it would have been nice to have a free breakfast included with the stay. As it was we did have breakfast in their dining room and it was very good at a reasonable price. They also have a morning buffet at about $13 each.

Stayed for one night over a weekend. Only got the basic room - which wasn't anything special. Faced the ppol so we couldn't open the windows to get any fresh air - room was a tad musty smelling. Bigger sized room - but with only one queen bed and a single bed - be warned if you require 2 beds. Room was a tad run down with peeling wall paper and old style bedspreads - but were clean so no complaints there.
Staff was super friendly at check in and any other time we required assistance.
Underground parking which was convenient - especially so I imagine during the cold winter months. Close enough to walk to the main strip of Banff as well.

Room Tip: I would recommend paying a bit more then a standard room - I have heard these are a lot nicer.

excellent rooms/ ask for upgrades they have nice suites/mine i got free i didnt even ask for it.. was a total suprise .i had booked a regular room with expedia. you might though not want to eat in the restaurant in the hotel. there are a lot of other choices near downtown only a few minutes walk. Excellent night staff little asian dude, had a plumbling issues was fixed instantly.

Room Tip: ask for the kitchen suites. and safe way is near by.. i thought everyhing was a little pricer

We stayed here for our second time, and it was nice, just as was our first visit, 3 years ago. The only thing I can say is that our room could have used a little TLC. Peeling wallpaper in a couple spots in the bathroom, nothing major, but they should be on top of it. And the mechanical noise during the night was pretty annoying. I hope they keep up with the little things, so in another few years, it's not starting to go downhill.

It is good to see that Rundletone has recently climbed even higher in the rankings because it deserves it. We stayed in a semi private room which turned out to be a huge room with a cathedral ceiling, a loft for my son's bedroom and an extra half bath. We had a beautiful view of a mountain right out our window. We were out of the hustle and bustle of the busy resort town by about a mile. However it kept our neighborhood quiet at night and Banff is one of the best resort towns I have experienced for parking. Plenty of free timed parking and even a large parking garage. Pool was a pleasant experience. It was indoors and heated comfortably and contained in almost a courtyard setting. Very private yet almost felt outdoors. Avoid the breakfast buffet. Better choices can be found in town. My only complaint is that the fan in the half bath was noisy enough to wake the dead.

My husband and I have just ended a weeklong stay here in a loft Jacuzzi suite. I can't think of one thing I would change. Our room was spacious enough that we didn't trip over each other. The vanity area had enough space for all our toiletries. The loft area had a two-person Jacuzzi with robes, towels, large HDTV and excellent lighting. Just the place to relax after a full day of hiking. The housekeeping service was thorough and meticulous. We ate breakfast each morning at Tooloulou's restaurant located in the lodge. Excellent variety in the menu and quite tasty offerings. I had researched TripAdvisor extensively before this trip and believe we ended up with exactly the type of quiet elegance we were looking for.
