Feast on a hearty menu featuring authentic Alpine cuisine, including Schnitzel and Fondue, in an atmosphere reminiscent of an old hunting cottage. Dark wood paneling, a large fireplace, and a beautiful wine cabinet housing an excellent wine selection, set the tone for a memorable dining experience in our "House in the Forest".

“Octoberfest is in Full Swing at the Waldhaus Pub.....Well Worth The Steep Climb to Get to.....”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 2, 2012

Had this pub on our Bucket list of Restaurants to try.......went around the supper hour......very european styling interior, with a spectacular view of the Banff Springs Golf Course.......had a bottle of wine and a few apps.....the bread pretzels were amazing! Served with a dish of butter, that was taken to the next level.......OMG! And one of the pretzels was wrapped with a thin strip of smoked bacon....very tasty! Shared a wonderful tossed salad, and ended off with an apple struedel type dessert.....wonderful........great food, great service and wonderful ambiance......

“German Cuisine”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 29, 2012

The food was excellent, but the prices were extremely high. It was a very long walk from the Banff Springs Hotel, but there is a shuttle you can take.

“It was OK but not great.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 25, 2012

We had an OK meal. There was nothing outstanding and meat we ordered medium came out cooked well. A fish dish that went past us reeked so we didn't order fish. The service was relatively slow and there were empty tables so we were not sure what was going on. However, the Pub downstairs was a fun place for lunch and we would recommend that. In hindsight, we probably should have eaten dinner there too. Our meal was much better in the Pub.

“A good place for a drink & a light meal.”

I had a few options for gluten free food. Always a plus. My partner liked the bison burger & the beer.

“Take the stairs into the woods from the Bow Falls parking lot.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2012

Stumbled upon this little gem when visiting Bow Falls in Banff. Who can resist a mysterious wooden stairway going up into the woods with a sign showing a German stein above it? We took the stairs to find out…a quaint German pub located next to a golf course with outdoor seating, a bar and dramatic restaurant. It was the perfect place to have a beer after our hike at Bow Falls. The prices are a bit more since it is part of a hotel, but worth the specialty beer options you don't often see on tap. There was even a group of people drinking out of "das boot".
