“Best Sunday Buffet In Banff”
Reviewed January 14, 2014

Once in awhile we treat ourselves to the Banff Park Lodge Buffet, known as the Chinook Restaurant located on their second floor. This buffet includes the regular breakfast pancakes, french toast, bacon and sausage. They also have an omelette counter with a selection of ingredients and a personal chef who cooks it right in front of you.
Then there is the lunch selection of cold meats, salmon and a variety of cheese. Along with roast beef or prime rib accompanied with a Chef to cut you the size of piece you like. There's also a Chefs choice of chicken and rice along with steamed vegetable.
Don't forget the desert buffet as well; a three tier chocolate fountain surrounded by different fruits, cheese cakes, truffles and different flavored fruit pastry tarts.
Average price is $25 a person depending on the occasion, we went on New Years Day and it was $35 per person. The hotel is located across the road from The Shell and Petro Canada gas stations one block west from the heart of downtown Banff.
Reserve a booth if possible, the view is magnificent. If you arrive right at 10 am when it opens, everything is fresh, far fewer people and getting a booth is much easier.

“What a entertaining buffet”
Reviewed January 1, 2014

My wife and I were not sure where to eat dinner on New Year's Eve.
All the restaurants in town seems like fully booked & we regret that we did not make a reservation.
but we were so fortunate to find "Chinook Restaurant" at Banff Park Lodge.
When we arrived, we were very welcomed by their executive chef Chris standing by the entrance welcoming us and introducing food items which were just tremendous.
we have never experienced this type of service and we felt so welcomed and at home...
The buffet has lots of variety selections(please see attached pictures) such as prime rib, pork chops & many kind of seafood... my favorite item was smoked oyster... that was a killer...I took lots of picture of food. however when I had smoked oyster, I was totally blown away and forgot to take one...what a shame eh? but it was that good...
and deserts...it's a murder...they have uncountable number of deserts include chocolate fountain. I had a little piece of Cheese Cake, creme caramel...oh boy... they are to die for... I normally find deserts in Canada too sweet. but they were just right amount of sweetness... and my wife actually had more deserts than main plates...lol
by the way when we were on the desert line, Chris, the executive chef, tried to entertain us by making apple Flambé ice cream which he missed(kind of...he could only made small flame) it was so funny seeing his face turning into red...but hey,it was successful making us laughing...
lastly, our server Suzie was very friendly and took good care of us. especially the cocktail she made for my wife was great. Since my wife does not drink, Suzie made a special cocktail with less alcohol more juice so that at least we could have a toast for the new years. it was actually taste really good...that's what my wife said...
we are very pleased the way their staff treat guests in any way by entertaining, communicating and taking care of guests...
we will be certainly back again.

“Lots of food!”
Reviewed December 27, 2013

The breakfast was delicious - very filling which is perfect before a day of skiing. We had the blueberry pancakes smothered in endless maple syrup, the poached eggs were perfectly cooked (soft) and unlimited refills of coffee. Yum!
