“Great for wildlife”
Reviewed April 23, 2014

We saw herds of big horn sheep, elk, and mule deer. The drive is very picturesque and not to be missed.

“What a beautiful drive!”
Reviewed February 14, 2014

This drive will give you an opportunity to see a unique view of the Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, and it will take you up to a spot from which you can park and then hike up the short hike to the top of Tunnel Mountain. From the top of Tunnel Mountain, you can see the entire Bow River Valley with the townsite below you. On the opposite side, you look over the golf course and can see the hoodoos in the distance. This is a relatively short, easy hike, and you will see lots of people actually running up the mountain as a daily training routine. Take some water and a picnic lunch to eat at the top. After hiking up the mountain, continue on and bear right at the hotel complex at the T intersection. Proceeding a little further down the road on your left, you will find another parking lot where you can get out and enjoy another view of the Bow Valley golf course, Elk Island below you, and you can get up close to the hoodoos along the mountainside. There may be some wildlife alongside the road or by the river below you. All in all, this is a magnificent drive and one not to be missed if you have time to take it in Banff.

“Great day out”
Reviewed January 18, 2014

We didn't drive, but instead chose to trek to the top of tunnel mountain which is Banffs most popular hike. It takes about 1.5 hours to trek up, but the views on the way up as well as the views from the top are great! Its a must do if you are in Banff.
