The Red Carpet Inn is a good hotel with affordable rates (Banff is quite expensive) and located on the main street in downtown Banff, BC. The rooms are nice and clean as are the bathrooms. Parking lot is behind the hotel. Lots of nice restaurants in the area.
Typical continental breakfast in the breakfast room downstairs.

This hotel was a good value for Banff. You can walk to town, leaving your car in the parking lot. Parking downtown is a problem. Good breakfast in the morning. Our room had the two bedrooms separated by a bath and a balcony overlooking the main street. Also had a table and chairs. Quite roomy. Hot tub is apparently always down and the laundry wasn't working either. You can go to a neighboring property for both if you're so inclined. We decided it was too much trouble. Never heard the train which is allegedly a problem for some light sleepers. I'd stay here again.

Stayed here last night after running a race in Banff. The room they gave us was huge, bigger than we paid for, with three queens. The front desk staff were friendly, and they have free breakfast. The room had a large bathroom, a fridge, and a sitting area with a table. The room was very clean and very nicely kept. The bed linens were nice and clean and white, the carpet was new, and the tile in the bathroom looked recently redone as well. Good value for the cost! The hallways are a bit outdated but the room was so nice we'd definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a room on the third floor - they all look nice and recently renovated.

I loved the spacious layout of our room; almost suite-style but not high priced as such. Front desk staff very friendly. Free continental breakfast displayed good variety of foods. In close proximity to Banff shops and restaurants- just park your car at the hotel (free) and walk down main street. Mountain vews - spectacular.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back, facing Mt Norquay ski area, are quieter that front facing rooms since loud, late travellers walk past on the sidewalk.

The hotel was okay. It's older but it was serviceable. The problem I had was the train. That train came by every 1/2 hour to an hour all night long, blowing it's horn 4-5 times each time it went past. My husband and I slept very badly to say the least.

Room Tip: I don't know if they have any rooms where you wouldn't be able to hear the train at night, but you can ask.
