My husband I spent our honeymoon at Johnston Canyon. A friend from Calgary recommended it. I'm glad she did.
Johnston Canyon is a busy tourist spot on the Bow Hwy. It gets very busy with tourists. But, because we were staying in the rustic cabins we were able to go to Lowers Falls three times in different light, at peak times and when it when were nearly the only ones there. It's exciting to walk the catwalk and feel the mist of the waterfall on your face.
I recommend Johnston Canyon as a base if you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of Banff. It's about 20 minutes to Banff and Lake Louise.
We enjoyed the vintage cabin. Be aware there is no Wi-Fi or cable tv. Cellular service and data worked though. To be honest, we spent most of our time out, on the Johnston Canyon trail. I suggest bringing your favorite dvd but the office has a good selection. We mostly ate at the restaurant. Basic menu. But good food.
Enjoy your stay. More
