we spent a very informative wet afternoon here before heading off into the rockies. Enjoyed the layout and the various ways of presenting facts - videos, audio, hands-on, photos etc. Easy to go to section to section because all complete in their own way. Maybe a little too much art for us but that is just personal choice. An enjoyable way to spend an afternoon. The curator was also very friendly and helpful with wet outerclothes.

The Whyte Museum presents art and exhibits in interesting and informative ways. Examples in the Gateway to the Rocky Mountains exhibits are the movie of transportation inside an old car, mountain guide models on a cliff, and heli-skiing with a suspended helicopter. It's very reasonable at CAD 8/adult.

I really did NOT want to do this museum on a beautiful September morning. But, my wife had agreed to do a long hike the day before at my insistence, so I agreed. We were both mesmerized by the accounts of the early explorers, surveyors, and struggles to develop the parks and trans-continental rail. And, we had no idea the role this area played during WWII. There were also many paintings and photos of nature and wildlife. They alone were worth the visit. AND, an explanation of the wildlife bridges over the 4 land highway between Banff and Lake Louise. Spend one to two hours, and you will be amazed how it will enhance your visit to Banff and Lake Louise.

Here at the Whyte Museum we like welcoming folks in from the rain but we especially love our sunny day visitors - so glad that you enjoyed our exhibitions "Gateway to the Rockies" and "Yellowstone to Yukon: The Journey of Wildlife and Art"!
