We had a perfect weather day to ascend the mountain in the gondola. The ride up and down is impressive. Once up on the viewing platforms the views are terrific and make for great photos.

Banff gondola. Ride is fantastic. Views are amazing. The better the weather the better the experience. Its stunning.
At the top there are a number of interesting exhibits, and two eateries - a full restaurant and a bistro. Theres also a walk to the top of Sulphur mountain .
Hints
- don't walk up to the base station. There are free shuttles and public buses cost $2. You don't need to commit to any tours which control your time on top.
- they recommend 1.5 hours up top which is about right if you want to see everything at a smooth pace - but NOT if you want to eat. Allow more for this.
- it's not cheap. $65 per adult. But if you don't do it, when you see others photos, you'll regret it

Happy to hear you had a fantastic ride up to the top of the mountain and were able to take in the amazing views!
We love the tip regarding the free shuttle-- parking can be a hassle in the National Park (especially during the Summer months!) and by utilizing the free shuttle not only are you dropped off right at the front door, you are also reducing the amount of emissions!

We only had an hour but it was well worth the trip. The views are fabulous, plenty of food available and a quick video. Highly recommend

It is far too expensive for what you get. Even the food is not worth the ride up. View is ok, but not much better than if you drive up Nordquay.

The Gondola ride is definitely a must see/do experience. The ride is very smooth and approx. 8 minutes longs. Also if you have a chance to book dinner at the Sky Bistro I would recommend this. The food is simply fabulous one of the best meals I have ever had !!

This was well worth the money. The trip up the mountain in the Gondola was breath taking. The view from the top is out of this world and a must see at least once in your life. $2 on number 1 bus from Banff downtown takes you right to the entrance to Gondolas. Don't try and walk from Banff it's a very steep hill with no sidewalk.

Happy to hear you were able to take in some of the breathtaking views from the top of the mountain! Truly a unique experience!
Great tip regarding transport-- Parking can be a hassle (especially during the summer months!) and by utilizing the city bus ($2 one-way), you save the trouble of finding a spot and help reduce emission on the road! We also have a free shuttle during summer months that comes every 20 minutes (until 5:55 pm) and takes you right down town to the Elk + Avenue hotel!
