Took the gondola to the summit of Sulphur Mountain then walked the trail back down. Great views and very informative summit visitor centre.

Great trip - the facilities at the top are good - including the food.
The walkway to the peak is great.

This is a must do. We caught a single gondola which was quite scary as it wasn't like a grouse mountain big thing, it was a small little cable cart. However, after a little adjustment you settle into it and as you go up and up you start seeing the rockies for what they are...amazing. The views are breath taking! We got out of the cart at the top and it was a little walk, we didn't really know what to expect. After following a path we found a resturant.

The resturant had amazing views of the moutains and it would have been really nice to sit and eat something there while looking out of the window, however the staff were really rude and not very helpful at all. The food wasn't even tasty either. After quickly eating our food, because where ever we tried to sit to get a nice view of the mountains we were advised that the area was closed, so me and my friend and 3 other couples all crammed into a cornor and around that area to eat.

The walk up to the top of the mountain was breath taking, they had posts to say what animals would be around, we didn't see any but there were a lot of foot prints! When we got to the top of the mountain, you could see the first station, which was closed but you could look through the window. The silence on the mountain was peaceful and relaxing, you could see into the rockies, and the skies were so clear, it was like looking at a movie backdrop.

I would definatley recommend having a trip up there, we even bumped into some hikers who had walked up the mountain and were going back down, each turn had something different!

“A Must See for anyone in Banff”
Reviewed November 10, 2012

Banff is a quiet little mountain town just over an hour away from the town of Calgary in Alberta. High above the town in the Mountains you will find the Gondola that allows visitors to easily reach the high peaks of Sulphur Mountain and get a great view of the area.

The Gondola is easily located not far from the Banff Springs Hotel, you can pay easily enough at the foot of the mountain where you will also get to see the Arctic Explorer Truck parked up. After getting in the short line you will enter the large cable cart and slowly descend up the mountain. The ride itself gives an amazing view of the surrounding mountains aswell as the town below.

Once you have reached the top of the mountain you will be guided out onto a wooded walkway, at the top you will find one of the best views in Western Canada as well as the usual amenities such as a Café, Gift shop etc. You can also take a look at the old Sulphur Mountain Cosmic Ray Station and learn about the area. When you are ready to leave you simply wait to be guided back onto the carts so that you can again take a ride down.

A must do whilst in the Rockies stunning views in all directions. I have used the gondola and walked the route. It is a touch expensive but I would say worth the money.
