We were on holiday in the Rocky Mountain Banff area. Though we weren’t guest at this castle hotel, we wanted to make a brief visit to this iconic symbol of historic grandeur. We parked on the street and took a short walk up to the hotel. We meandered into the lobbies to admire the old time stone work. There were a number of small shops located inside to peruse; selling clothing, souvenirs, toys, etc. For rejuvenation, we saw the elegant Willow Stream Spa. We did not encounter many people there in May. A brief stop to this century old historic hotel of yesteryears is worthwhile.

I had the opportunity to spend 3 nights at the Banff Springs for a conference in April. I've stayed a few times but this time was amazing. Although most of my time was spent in the conference centre, I was able to enjoy the outdoor pool on my final day. Standing outside in hot water surrounded by fresh snow and crisp temperatures was amazing.

When you stay here, you need to be aware of two things: First, this is in a national park. This usually means that accommodations are expensive and the rooms are not typically to the standard of a modern downtown hotel i.e. Fairmont Pacific Rim. Second, this is a historical hotel i.e. it is old. It's beautiful, and the accommodations are nice, but the rooms were smaller when this place was built. Compared to other Banff accommodations, this is the nicest. Recommend you visit, but keep the above in mind.

Room tip: The "view" rooms are identified and stunning.

Attended a Conference here and stayed at the Banff Springs Hotel. It is simply a magical place to stay. Every element of the hotel is top-notch and professionally managed. It is very pricey, but worth at least a one night stay if you are in the area.

Room tip: Ask for a mountain view for sure

Banff Springs Hotel represents one of the oldest and most prestigious Hotel in Canada and North America. For over Fifty years my family, friends and I have had the most memorable experience visiting Banff Springs Hotel. Upon every visit, we visit the room offering historical pictures, facts and exhibits capturing the imagination.
The Famous Sunday Brunch served at the main dining room with the Large windows allowing for the breath-taking a view of the mountains surrounding the hotel along with the impressive decoration from the 1920s that includes the luxurious antique furniture ambiance that included white cloth tables with antique matching table setting and uniformed servers representing the era.
The elaborate brunch included a large variety of local and imported meats and seafood, with extensive types of complementary dishes, broad kinds of salads, antipasto, cold cuts, and cheeses. All sorts of dishes with different egg species prepared in a multitude of favorite ways. Including varieties of local and imported bacon and sausages types. The Freshly smell of the freshly made waffles and pancakes filled the room. Let’s not forget the varieties of sweets and sumptuously prepared desserts — moreover, the freshly pressed fruit-juices — additionally, one of the best-prepared coffee I have had the privilege to enjoy.
My recent visit on May the 5, 2019 with guests who have never been to this unique place was painfully shattered. The familiar opulence experience we have come to admire and appreciate at this iconic place was destroyed entirely by the recent cavalier renovations to the restaurant ambiance, decoration and menu turning it into a common, one of the mill grill restaurant across Canada. Who in the right mind would cover the priceless window view with a ginormously misplaced bar? Who in the right mind replaces the antique furniture with ordinary garden furniture that is not only uncomfortable, it cheapens the experience? Who decided that tables no longer require to be covered with the white cloth? Who decided to replace the antique table settings with the cheap and typically available table setting available at i-hop? Who had the mindset to reduce and change the open menu for brunch with dishes commonly served everywhere? Who would have the small mindset to remove the traditional, all wood and crystal decoration representing the legacy of an iconic, over one hundred years old hotel with the very common flooring, lighting and “grey color theme”?
To whom it may concern,
There is a right and wrong way to renovate. Regretfully, you have settled for the wrong way. Please stop destroying the very essence of this treasured Hotel and make every effort to provide the nostalgic representation of the hotel.

Hello Bijan M,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback with us on your recent visit. It was wonderful to hear that you have joined us for over 50 years with your family and friends. Our team is so gratefully to have been a part of so many memorable visits. Over the years the restaurant where brunch is served has seen many changes, from the Rob Roy to the Bow Valley Grill and most recently to The Vermillion Room. While the layout of the restaurant and furniture may change, we continue to pride ourselves on providing engaging service paired with a memorable menu featuring local produce, house made desserts and local Alberta beef. Our guests’ feedback is vital to our success; we truly appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Your comments have been shared with our senior leadership team as hearing from our guests will certainly guide all future renovation plans.
