For a hotel that compares itself to the Savoy in London and amongst the world's best I was left disappointed. We had several issues including the fridge not working, coffee we did not order being delivered at 11 o'clock at night and waiting over 20minutes for help with our baggage after being told they would be straight up.
The building itself is lovely and the views were stunning (go for a mountain view its worth it). The room was very generic and quite small. I would recommend to go and have a tour of the building and cocktail in the bar but it wasn't worth the expense of staying.
We left our feedback with the hotel directly after our stay, requesting them to contact us but we heard nothing back from them. I guess the iconic pull of the building is enough to keep people coming but I would not recommend it given how expensive it is.

Room Tip: A mountain view room is stunning if you decide it is worth the expense.

We stayed here as part of a tour. If I ever returned to Banff I would wish to stay somewhere else. The hotel is very historic and has very impressive exterior and interior public areas. However the rooms are small and the bathrooms tiny - the smallest I have ever seen in an up market hotel. When we arrived there was a soiled towel in our bathroom. When we rang to report it, they simply replaced it with a clean towel and no apology whatsoever. We stayed 2 days and when we were leaving we found some almonds behind the chair and as neither of us had these while in the room, they reflect very poor house keeping. We didn't bother complaining, as they don't appear to have the slightest interest in addressing service complaints. The size of the hotel will inevitably mean it is impersonal.
On the positive side, the restaurant is very good and the breakfast sensational

Magnificent building and great location! I have issue with two finer points. First, the morning Buffet. I was advised the price by reception was $25 pp but our bill came out at $29 pp. Either the price has gone up over the past 2 days or the tax is higher than 5%. This hotel doesnt seem to inform prices prior to seating. Second, our rooms air con did not cool the room down very well at all. Maintenance was advised but we didn't get an answer whether anything was fixed or not. Who knows?

We always wanted to stay in a old Canada railway hotel so this was to fullfil that desire. Expensive rooms (July stay) but the hotel was mostly full with tourist. Couldn't get the AAA rate so had to book through a travel web site for a more affordable rate. The hotel almost has as many staff and guests. Most trained staff I have been waited on in almost any North American hotel. Even the valet parking knew my name the next morning from the day before (no name was on the keys) so this was typical of every staff member. 2 dinners were over the top in service and ambiance. Pricey but if your looking for an experience this is the place to have one.
Banff mountains are the grand view of grand views. Unfortunately summer brings out the tourists so be prepared for the crowds. Another one off the bucket list so it was well worth the trip, expense, and crowds.

Room Tip: Insist on being in the old building for the experiencing the gandure.

We took our company trip to Banff and Vancouver this year. We stayed the first four nights in Banff. We had arranged to stay on the gold level with access to the lounge. That was terrific idea because with a group of eight it gave us a meeting lounge. the breakfasts and afternoon snacks were amazing. The gold level has a private check-in and we were from our cars to the rooms checked in under 10 minutes. We hiked a lot, so there were many trails, canyons and lakes to explore. Banff is a tourist trap but the hotel is an oasis. Rooms are a little small but service was wonderful.

Room Tip: Stay on the Gold level

No detail is lost on this towering castle in the Canadian Rockies. All the staff is friendly and helpful. The views are spectacular, the Spa is world class, and the variety of restaurants is perfect. Be sure to look for the buffets in the Bow Valley Grill too. Advance reservations for restaurants and Spa treatments ensured it all went just as planned.

Room Tip: Be sure to get the mountain views

Although this hotel is huge it somehow manages to captivate you with its Victorian grandeur and well preserved heritage . Some of the grand viewing galleries and public rooms transport you back to the Titanic era !The rear terrace bar and café opens out onto a stunning view of the mountains and serves food and cocktails that are really excellent . The staff are friendly and helpful and we would love to return again sometime .
