We were in Canada for our friends wedding in Calgary,so as part of our trip we decided to explore The Rockies,on the recommendation from Trip Adviser we stayed at the Canadian Lodge Banff and were not dissapointed. The hotel was in an excellent location and to a very high standard, from the helpful concierge-who gave us a list of the best places to visit and how to get there-to the superb restaurant and spotlessly clean rooms you couldn't fault anything. They even cleaned the windscreen of the car in the garage. Thanks for a great recommendation.

My husband and I stayed here for the second half of our honeymoon trip and we absolutely loved this place! The hotel service was so on par with the wonderful attitude that this part of Canada is known for. We began our trip at the Fairmont Banff Springs and spent our last three nights at the Royal Canadian where we booked the jr. suite with the ski package. The room was amazing and huge, compared to the other hotel where we first stayed at and our bathroom was even bigger! The price for the hotel package was extremely cheap and well worth every penny to upgrade to the jr. suite. We had a roaring fireplace and an delicious breakfast sent up to us each morning. The setting is much more intimate and we took advantage of the spa downstairs after our long days at the slopes. The hotel even gave us a discount card for our gear when we went into town and rented it. Thank you Royal Canadian for making our honeymoon absolutely unforgettable...we'll be back in a few years for our second honeymoon!

We loved our stay at Banff Royal Canadian Lodge. The staff made our trip to Baff so much better-- they were warm and welcoming. We've heard that the restaurant was award winning but the breakfast buffet we had was not as amazing as expected. Despite that, we still had an amazing time and would definitely stay here again.

Stayed 4 nights July 29-Aug 2, 06. Everything was great. We (two couples) had 2 Junior Executive Suites on the second floor facing Banff Ave. Large, well furnished, comfortable rooms. Fireplace was a nice touch, except it was too warm to use it while we were there. Staff was very friendly in all respects. Bathroom was large and had both a large shower, and a separate whirlpool tub that we did not use. Shower drain was slow when we arrived, but the front desk had maintenance to fix it within a short time of me notifying them. Some have mentioned noise from Banff Ave. I heard some but never enough to wake me or prevent me from sleeping. Sound insulation seemed quite good.
It is located not directly in downtown, but a very short walk (maybe 1/4 mile) to the beginning of downtown. We made the walk several times.
Restaurant food was very good and well prepared and served. But it was a little too pricey so we only ate there one time.
We had no problems at all would definately stay there again.

Purchased the "Rockies Romance Package" for a one night stay with my girlfriend. Upon arrival check in was swift, however entering our deluxe room on the first floor we discovered a relatively small room (for a deluxe) and a view of the residential houses on the street behind the hotel which was dissappointing for the amount we paid.

The package included a bottle of champagne and chocolates (which turned out to be a box of shortbread chocolate chip cookies) but the room was prepared nicely and was clean despite the size.

Lame addition was the fake fireplace in the room, but the temperature control was excellent.

Breakfast was also in included and was plesently surprised that it wasn't your standard continental breakfast. We got to choose any meal from their breakfast menu with coffee and juice. (Both had the Eggs Benedict on Smoked Salmon).

All in all, the experience was excellent since we had great weather and a nice stay. The BIGGEST reason i've rated it a 3 however is because for the room we got the price was high. For how much we spent a "deluxe" room should have been bigger with a better view.
