“GREAT EXPERIENCE”
Reviewed January 14, 2008

We had a very nice room with a large flat screen TV, a fire place, and a nice view from the room of the mountain and a really comfortable king size bed. Across the road was a convient store and a liquer store which was very handy. We found the staff very courtious and helpful. Overall, we enjoyed the place much more than we expected.

The hotel was easy to find. We stayed in an executive suite and had a great view of the mountains. Our balcony was warm enough to sit out on in my bathing suit! The front desk staff were excellent. Our room was very clean and any thing we asked for such as more wine glasses, cork screw, ect was delivered very quickly. The steam room in our bathroom was awesome. Our room was quiet even though we faced the street coming up the mountain. It was great having a liquor store and grocery store across the street. Would stay here whenever I go to Banff.

Booked through Allstays.com, enjoyed a lovely 9 night stay here in one of their executive suites - was spacious, clean, beautifully furnished, with a fabulous view to wake up to with coffee on the balcony.
Staff were excellent throughout - friendly, efficient, and willing to advise on anything from transport to where to buy a decent pair of trainers!
Would definitely recommend - though don't be fooled by the somewhat dowdy exterior paintwork - inside the suite was thoroughly modern, stylish and comfortable.

We just returned from 5 nights at the Banff Tunnel Mountain Resort Hotel. Had no problems at all during our stay. Friendly and helpful front desk staff. Room very clean. Enjoyed the heated flooring, fireplace and balcony. Would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. We stayed in one of the Executive Suites and it was very handy to downtown Banff as well as TransCanada Hwy 1.

We went on vacation to Banff for a week and were very pleased with the Tunnel Mountain Resort. We booked at Tunnel Mountain because a neighbour had stayed there last year and recommended it. Word of mouth always works.

We stayed in a Chalet. It was spacious, clean, private and cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed. We ended up having breakfast at our Chalet and then packed a lunch for our day trips. For dinners, the friendly staff recommended a variety of great local restaurants. This was perfect for a family with children. It was also good for my waistline. Eating out 3 meals a day on vacation always makes me gain weight.

When the kids were asleep in the loft in the evening, we shared a nice glass of wine on the patio and enjoyed the wonderful Banff air. It was too hot to make use of the fireplace but we will definitely return during ski season and try it out.

This hotel is a great choice!

I read your article on places to stay in Banff. I didn't see Tunnel Mountain Resort listed. So here goes my evaluation. It was a great place to stay. We had a two-floor unit with kitchen, fireplace and, of course, a bathroom. Indoor plumbing is a must especially for Floridians not familiar with outdoor plumbing. The view was fantastic. One morning, we even had a wolf walk lazily past our windows. We enjoyed late evening sunsets over the mountain tops as well. The staff was quite accomodating and brought us extra wood and extra coffee so we never ran out. For the able-bodied, the walk to town took about 20 minutes -- all downhill. If lazy, you could grab a bus back. If you are into wild meat (we were), there is a neat little restaurant just across the way. And for those who love to dine on fast food, there is a quick check about one block away. The rate was fantastic for 10 days. So, if you are planning a Banff trip, we heartily recommend Tunnel Mountain Resort. We plan to stay there again this coming year (2008), when we return to Banff in early summer.

My wife and I just got back from our Alberta vacation Sept. 8, 2007 and we enjoyed our stay at the Tunnel Mountain Resort. On arrival we were greeted by a deer which came to our deck. There are mountains all around but the view is through the trees.

The location is the top of a big hill in Banff. You can walk to town but it woould be a half hour or so back and forth.

We had a loft unit which had a kitchen/living room with fireplace, two bedrooms and one bath. The loft bedroom is open to the living room area and had two queen size beds. The downstairs bedroom had a door and queen size bed. The small kitchen seemed well equiped for a short visit. There is a convenience store and little wine shop across the street. There is also a small pool in the reception building.

The units were a bit dated but we had no housekeeping problems and they seemed clean enough. It is not a luxury place.

On Saturday night there were lots of people having fun and it was pretty loud periodically throughout the night...but not scary or troublesome...just people enjoying themselves. In the early evening a bus ran its engine for over an hour right outside our unit until we were ready to scream. However, during the week it was quiet.

We stayed 3 nights with a "deal" from Travelocity of three nights at the price of 2, so we averaged $123US+ taxes a night.

Overall I thought we got a good value for our stay.
