The overall experience was excellent. Loved taking the gondola to the Lodge. We all have a great time. Only slight criticism is having to go to Trappers Bar for a drink in the evening we would have preferred to sit around the fire in the dinning room as we are older and felt Trappers was for the younger ones.More

Let me start by saying this hotel has amazing hikes on Mt Standish, with great views. The rooms are small, but the view from the rooms is good. Breakfast was excellent across the board. The French Toast was the best I've ever had. BUT...... To get to this hotel you have to drive 10 minutes on an access road. Then you come to the lower village. If you arrive before 6pm, thank your lucky stars because you only have to spend 25 minutes on world's longest gondola ride before arriving at the hotel. But arriving after 6pm is much worse. We waited 40 mins once and an hour once, just to catch the shuttle to the top and this took another 25 minutes. YOU MUST ALLOW AN HOUR EXTRA MINIMUM. We were meeting friends at Lake Louise at 7:30am and we had to order a shuttle at 6am to get there on time. If you stay in Canmore, you can get to literally every place in the world faster than from here. We ate dinner at the Eagle's Nest once. It was incredibly bad. The ingredients were high quality, but no skill had gone into the preparation. It was impressive in a way. The rack of lamb had one raw chop, one medium and one well done!!! And they were all dry -- a feat in itself. The beet carpaccio was good. The mushroom ravioli came with a gritty, salty sauce. We had intended to eat dinner there every night to avoid the horrible commute, but quickly changed our minds. If you are using this place for a ski vacation please disregard the above, but for summer visitors why are you still reading this???? Go find a different place to stay.

Third visit here. This time the mattress was soft and saggy with a pronounced dip towards the centre. The food has always been ok but not enjoyable (awful salmon dinner and stale buffet pastries & croissants).

Awesome location. Excellent rooms. Clean. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food selection is somewhat limited but given the resort location this is to be expected. Overall a great travel experience and worthy of a return visit.

I didn't really know what to expect since I'd never been to a ski lodge before and the idea of taking a gondola ride and being far from my car during a road trip seemed daunting but it turned out to be the best decision in my whole trip. This is the perfect place to stay in summer as long as you're not incredibly pressed for time because 1) you avoid the mad crowds in Banff town itself but are still very close by, 2) you get to enjoy a scenic gondola ride every day, 3) you're only a short chairlift ride away from the highest alpine lake in Canada, right at your doorstep, 4) the service is fantastic, 5) the in-house restaurants have the most delicious, fresh food, 6) you get a free guided walk of Sunshine village, 7) the wi-fi is probably the best in the park. The rooms are cozy with a fireplace and very comfy beds, and the balcony looks out onto the chairlifts and mountains for a great view all day. Will definitely stay here again if I'm ever back in the area!

This is a great place for a one or two night stay. The lodge is located at the top of the mountain with a chair lift that takes you up to amazing views and hiking trails. It is relatively easy to get there. The shuttle in Banff ( call the hotel for shuttle pick up locations and times b/c the online schedule ends in May- as we found out after waiting in the wrong location and missing the first shuttle) takes you to the gondola and the gondola takes you directly to the hotel. The hotel offers a late evening shuttle to the hotel if you miss the gondola hours of operation. The one downside is the limited places to eat during summer. There is a restaurant in the hotel and a bar/tavern next door. The food is good but pricey. Then again, you are at a remote location. I suggest stocking up on snacks and beverages down in Banff at the grocery store and bringing it up with you. The trails are meticulously maintained and the staff is excellent.
