The hotel is on the main street of Banff . Before we arrived we had an email from the conciege asking if we had any requests and suggestions for places to visit. this service continued throughout the visit. the breakfast was very good and the resturant served a good selection of food.
the rooms were a good size and clean.

I have stayed at the Mount Royal before overlooking Banff Avenue but this time was sent to the old Cascade Inn annex down the maze of hallways. When I had phoned two days before they said that we would be overlooking Banff avenue but somehow were assigned the tired old crap wing. Complained but was given a pale-faced explanation by the guy working the reception that they were completely booked and could not "upgrade us in the three days that we stayed there." Yeah right 1.5 points off!

The gal working the desk was a sweetheart and helpful. Poor internet wireless signal - thank god it was an Expedia add-on couldn't imagine paying for it ! Furnishings were tired and the air conditioning or whatever it was rattled along. Whirlpool spa wasn't hot enough . Central location and cheap price from Expedia was a plus. This hotel could be a lot better given the location and the history. No need to run the hotel like Tony Roma's.

I reserved the Brewster Bundle plus Gondola lift passes, and Minnewanka cruise tickets all for $250. OK, in retrospect it sounded a little too good to be true.

When we got to the hotel, we first had the experience of finding our room after going down a half-flight of stairs (about five steps) halfway down the hall. OK, so we were not here to marvel at the architecture, fine, no problem.

Then we open the door to our room and find one of the dirtiest looking carpets I have ever seen in a hotel. There was a bug crawling accross our bed as well, which luckily I disposed of before my girlfriend never knew about.

I went back to the front desk to complain that they had given me the incorrect room and that I had reserved the brewster bundle with I had assumed came with a Brewster suite. They informed me that the Brewster Bundle in fact only came with a regular room.

One final point to be fair is that the bed was comfortable and was perhaps one of the only things the room had in its favour. Bathroom and shower were decent as well.

This is a get what you pay for hotel, so as long as you go with lowered expectations, you will not be dissapointed and may even enjoy your stay.

the location is great, but the rooms are very dirty, specially the bathroom, very dirty and smelly since the first time we went in, and the carpets are very dirty and a lot of stains everywhere, the walls, carpets, everywhere. the guy that did our check in, was very, very rude. The walls are very thin, and you can hear everything from the other rooms.

WE stayed here for one night on a tour through the rockies. This hotel is close to the shops, restaurants and a couple of pubs.We had a lovely room with a lounge and spa bath but not much of a view out the window.Staff were pleasant and they also have a tour desk where we booked an evening nature tour on the blue Explore Banff bus it was great and very informative.
If in the area I would stay here again.

Not the Banff Springs Hotel, but then again, neither were the room rates. After all, we were in Banff to Ski and take in the magnificent Canadian Rockies and the Mount Royal is located right smack in the middle of all the shops, restaurants, and bars. Great Value! If staying in your room is your bag, then try the Ritz Carlton, Laguna Niguel, otherwise, shut up and enjoy the great value and get out there and experience magnificent Banff!

We have just come back from a holiday that visited Banff, Jasper and Vancouver. Banff is the most beautiful place but our three night stay was hugely spoiled by this filthy hotel. Maybe we were unlucky, but we were given a room at the far end annex and right outside the window was what appreared to be the air con generator for the whole hotel. Consequently, the room hummed (in more ways than one) all night.
I am still convinced that the bed had not been changed from various previous occupants as there were hairs in there of varying colours and lengths. The room was dark and dingy and the towels yellowing.

Filth for me is the worst thing I can find in an hotel room and I just couldn't wait to get out of this place. I can only think that the management rely on tourists stopping for the location and then feel they don't have to bother too much with anything else.
Housekeeping was of the worst standard I have ever encountered.
