“Family room good size”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2014

We made good use of the 2 bedrooms and kitchen as we were a family of four that hiked every day with picnics. The Safeway down Banff Avenue was close and most convenient. We loved Gloria's freshly-baked cakes (and bread pudding). The hot tub was a good way to end a day of climbing, etc. The Keg and Evergreen restaurants next door and nearby had delicious steaks.

Room Tip: It rained every day we were in Banff but a drive to Lake Louise or Yoho National Park (just an hour...

This hotel is very nice and the lady that checked us in was very nice. We had the loft room which was not real convenient for those of us over 60 but we made do as they were not willing to make a change for us. The bathroom was very large and had a great shower as well as very soft towels. The coffee pot leaked water. I reported it and it was replaced right away. Our only complaint was when we left an expensive item in the room when we checked out and called back about it, the man at the desk was not interested in helping. We had to make several long distance calls and finally found our item was turned in and we drove back to retrieve it. This hotel could use a little more lesson in diplomacy - especially to foreigners. The breakfast wasn't worth coming down for. You are given a 'breakfast' ticket but no one ever asked for it. For the price, I would find another place to stay in Banff.

Dear Purplemoon 4

Thank you for taking the time to review our hotel and providing valuable feedback.

I apologize that we were not prompt in locating the item that you had left behind, this is not our usual high standard in customer service and I apologize that we could not change the room due to hotel being full over those dates.

I am glad that we were prompt in replacing the leaking coffee pot and that my colleague on check-in was very friendly.

Thank you for staying with us.

Kind Regards

so i should not complain too much since booked this hotel at last minute in high season. stayed here w my 15 yr old son. the staff friendly and service prompt when had couple of issues w the room. they keep the hotel tidy and good housekeeping. but room itself is really akward and dated. the spiral staircase a pain and found space to be inefficient. at least there was a separate area although not as private as would have liked since open loft. i had a lot of difficulty w getting the right temperature in the room. but they include the standard breakfast for this class of lodging and have free wifi. about a 20 min walk to town. stayed at the delta sister hotel last year and it was marginally better than this one and about same distance to town. would not choose either hotel again unless i had to. not my first choice since just really basic. think it would be ok for family w young kids since lots took advantage of pool area.

I wanted to like this place, the pictures looked nice, has undergone recent renovations, and it doesn't nickel and dime you for services but it just didn't do it for me. First of all, most of the properties on the strip in Banff were built in the 60's. There is only so much they can renovate. If you're looking for more modern hotels like we are accustomed to staying in the USA then go to Canmore the properties are newer there. The staff was pretty nice, especially Ms. Gloria at the breakfast bar that everyone has raved about in recent reviews. Yes, she is great and genuine and the best thing that the hotel has going for them.

The hotel is more like a motel in that the rooms are connected but not in a covered hallway. There are no views and you have to keep your window shut because people can walk by and look in your room as they walk by. The worse thing was the smell, don't know how to describe it but smells like your grandma's old house. The room is very small and dark. It's a 15 minutes walk to down town, I don't mind walking, we were averaging 7 miles a day due to the hikes, but found that we would end up eating close to the hotel in stead of going downtown. After the first night we came back to our room at 230pm and it still hadn't been cleaned. Went down and asked if we could just check out, as we had decided to move to another hotel. They couldn't do it, but did allow us to change the reservation and leave the following morning. (we were able to do this because we booked direct with the hotel). We did this but noticed that they had changed the price of the room from 180.00 per night to 199.00 per night and didn't tell us. We just took the hit as we were desperate to leave and go to another hotel. It was our 25th wedding anniversary and they did leave a bottle of sparkling wine and chocolates. We left and went to the Banff Park Lodge, a great place, nicer room but they do Nickel and Dime you for extras, parking, internet, and breakfast is not included.

The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and were also helpful in guiding us to activities, shops and restaurants. It's located on the main street in Banff and was very easy to get everywhere from here. The rooms had everything you need, including a small kitchen; so it's very recommended to families as well. Parking on site was included which was also extremely helpfuf! I'd definitely recommend this to anyone. Oh and the breakfast was DELICIOUS (and included)!!!!!

Staff were efficient and friendly. Even though "high season", they found us a room to extend our stay. King size bed in loft room was good even with circular staircase. Kitchenette rooms were ample although I didn't like beds up against the wall. Staff made this place exceptional.

Room Tip: Be sure you are truly mobile if you choose a loft room.

Stayed here for four nights in August. We had a a loft suite with a spiral staircase which looked very nice online, however there is no bathroom up on the top level which was really inconvenient especially at night. The hotel is located about a 15 minute walk to the start of the main drag, so it is nice and quiet. The view was very disappointing. Breakfast was boring but service in the dining area was very good. Front desk staff were not helpful or friendly at all but they were polite. The hotel was clean and the bed was comfy.

Room Tip: Don't get a loft suite. the spiral staircase is a killer at night.
