“Was your average hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2010

We stayed here because we wanted to go snowboarding in Lake Louise and it was cheaper to stay here than in Lake Louise. The Hotel was clean and simple. The parking lot was very small and on the second day we had to park across the street in a different parking lot that only allowed 12 hour parking. That was kind of crappy because there was no where else to park and we almost got a parking ticket. The one morning we got up there was barely any hot water for showering which was surprising because I've never run into that problem at a hotel. Other than that it was a good hotel and would stay if I was looking for a more simple, cheaper place to stay.

If I were to go back to Banff and I really hope I do, I would stay here always. It is in the best position. It is right across the road from the Bow River and the walking area, at the end of town and when we stayed an Elk ate the garden right outside our ground floor window. This is such a pretty place Banff but the wildlife here is just wonderful. Some people would like to stay at Banff Springs and while it is lovely, as you can go for a look around, it is right out of town, this place is in a much better position.

Well, reasonable hotel. Stayed there for two nights. Clean and nice chamber. The hotel is in a good location and conveniently located for the town.

Booked a couple weeks ahead a river view room with a king size bed. In the pictures is shows a large room with lots of light and a beautiful view of the river. Got there and it was a small dark room with a little patio door with a view of the back street, no river view and we were on the ground floor.. I was paying alot of money for this room for 2 nights. This was very disappointing so we asked for our money back. They told me I wouldn't find another place in town. They were incorrect. There was lots to select from. We ended up staying at High Country Inn, very nice and they were offering a great deal. We got the honeymoon suite for 2 night and paid alot less. Nice balcony, nice view....

Stayed 3 nights on a 3 week road trip through Western Canada. Banff is well known and as a result expensive as a result the cost was reasonable although August is probably high season. This hotel looks drab on the exterior but has a great central location. Down by the river and off the main drag means it was quiet. On entering the first room we thought they had made a mistake as it was huge with a great view of the mountains. Deciding to stay a 3rd night we had to move room - the second was smaller with a view of the town/car park - more likr what we had first expected to be given. Parking cramped as surrounding areas have strict and enforced parking but staff put themselves out to sort us out. Nice stay despite the dodgy weather - 27 degrees to 8 degrees in 12 hours and chipping ice off the car on the last morning _ this was August ! ! PS We are English

This was a very positive experience and though this hotel is a location for tour groups and business travellers, the reception staff still helped to make us feel personal and welcome. We requested a quiet room and were given a very pleaesant room with balcony, overlooking the river and park at the back, which was great. The room was a bit cramped, mainly because we had a lot of luggage (!) but still very comfortable. Easy 5 min walk to the main drag for meals and in the other direction to the railway station.

I stayed at the Bow Vally Hotel on August 30 and 31. I paid $99 a night based on internet prices. Do not book through the hotel as their prices are much more expensive. When I tried to stay again if I came back on September 2nd the front desk said the best price they could give me was $150 for the night. I therefore decided to stay in Jasper instead for the same price.
