Very pleased with this hotel. Great breakfast included. Friendly. Clean. Great position in Banff and good price. If you ever need to refurbish we would have liked a quieter heating system, but realise it has to be hot when its -20 outside!

It's a close walk to down town Banff which is very handy. The rooms were comfortable enough, a bit small. The hotel was clean but the insulation is poor and we heard people in the bar and walking around all night even on the top floor. We got a free hot breakfast with our room. Did the trick for a night, but not where you want to stay if your looking for something fancy or relaxing.

We were in Banff to attend the Banff Book & Film Festival in November, 2013. The room was exactly as promised - except way to warm. We got in touch with the desk & they immediately got us another room! The room was clean and spacious! The facility was quiet. The staff were friendly (had to wait for check in - people in front of us had a zillion questions & back up staff weren't called in to help us till after we had been waiting quite some time - probably 10 minutes). Our room included a complementary hot breakfast & it was excellent! It was the kind of breakfast you would pay $10 - $12 at least for in a restaurant. I would DEFINETLY stay there again (actually I stayed there a year ago as well).

Room Tip: The room that we moved from was an inside room; we got moved to an outside room with a French door t...

We stayed at the Ptarmigan Inn with our two teenage sons. There was plenty of room for all four of us in one room. Also it was stumbling distance from the pubs or shopping. We enjoyed a hot buffet breakfast that was included with our stay. We have never had a better value with such high quality of standards at any other hotel in Banff. We visit banff at least 4 times a year and have stayed at many different hotels. We have now found our "usual" hotel to stay at.
enjoy.

for now, the cheapest hotel in Banff is the best (when they renovate the price may go up - hopefully nothing good changes). comfortable beds, clean bedroom with a great view and a balcony (yes I stepped out even in the super cold!!!), clean bathroom and amenities. a few minutes from all the shops and restaurants. Heated underground parking was nice - would be great if I were skiing. Breakfast was awesome - since off season and merely a few people, they were smart and let us order what we wanted rather than wasting food (paid more for staff and helped our planet - KUDOS). Yogurt, omelet, over easy eggs with requested onions and mushrooms, fruit, juice, coffee - all excellent.
the STAFF was very helpful. Amy paid attention to our needs at breakfast and told us where to find the elk I had been seeking (on the golf course). Mary let me use the front desk computer when the guest one was not working. WIFI was excellent in my room and in the lobby.
Only complaint was the signage was confusing to get to the Lobby and to the rooms - hopefully they will really think about it in the future.

Room Tip: Ask for one facing the mountains - very quiet.

The hotel was clean and the breakfast was satisfactory, but our room was only OK. There was no fan in the bathroom and it felt as though there were some ventilation issues in the room generally, which was really stuffy. That said, our beds were very comfortable and the staff was friendly. I wouldn't make this my first choice but for an inexpensive stay in Banff, there are worse properties.

We spent 2 nights here before travelling up the Icefields Parkway to Jasper. Our room had no outside window - the only one in our room opened on to an inner Atrium. Bit strange not knowing what weather etc was like... But room was clean, comfortable and adequate. As appears to be the custom in Canada, the wash basin was in the bedroom, not the bathroom. We had breakfast here both days, and it would have been quite good but they need more staff to top up the buffet. Guests were scrounging round looking for cereal bowls etc. We also eat here both nights (due to tiredness and pouring rain!) and both meals were excellent. All in all, an adequate hotel for a fair price, needs an update but ok despite that, its in a central position in Banff, has underground parking and a decent restaurant.
