I would never stay at the Banff International Hotel again. The only Pros I have about this place is that the staff was very friendly and the location is prime due to it being right on Banff Ave. Other than that, this place is dated, dirty and does not have good amenities which is a shock because when you enter, the lobby is beautiful. First off about the rooms; the furniture is dirty and needs to be reupholstered, not only because its dated, but because its dirty. The sofa and the chairs had food stains on them and I would have to guess they have been there for years. The carpets needed a good vacuum, well better yet needed to be replaced due to the wear and tear. We stayed in a loft room which had 1dbl bed on the main and 2 dbl beds on the upper level. For a suite that had that many sleeping areas, you would think the bathroom would be suited to accommodate the amount of people staying in the suite. Just the complete opposite! The bathroom was the size of a spare bathroom you would find in a single family dwelling. We could not believe how small it was. The bathtub had the nasty “ring around the tub” and took ample time for the water to drain. The TV was in a wardrobe that was so heavy it couldn’t be moved so it was impossible to see the TV from anywhere other than the nasty sofa.
Another turn off is there is no swimming pool.
Lastly the food (or lack thereof). They do not offer a complimentary breakfast which we were disappointed about. They have a restaurant called Ricky’s grill that we ate at. Oh my goodness, for my husband to not finish his food, you know it had to be all kinds of wrong. It was so greasy and not well prepared.
We go on at least 2 vacation a year, and by far I was most disappointed with this hotel. I have never stayed anywhere in which I actually felt dirty staying there. Banff International, please renovate your suites and have them cleaned properly.
