This hotel is in a great location, but badly needs to be refreshed in all areas, restaurant, rooms and all common areas.

this hotel was despicable the staff was beyond rude and very unproffessional in their customer service skills. The hotel is run down, dumpy, the rooms are dirty with a bathroom sink in the middle of the room which makes no sense. This stay was so horrible i have actually gotten my company to boycott this chain horrible horrible horrible do not waste your time with this dump. Oh and one more thing the free complimentary breakfast is a choice between a banana and a bowl of fruit loops unbelievable!!

The rooms where very clean and the atmosphere was fantastic, staff always very helpful and would go out of there way too help us with things to do!! its very close too down town we had our little dog with us and the staff are more than accomodating with pets all the staff seem to be dog crazy!! the hotel itself is very nice everything is well maintained and very cosy with a big sitting area in the reception for a day reading in the sun..

I will come back with my hubby and dog again

Update: Contrary to what the hotel stated in response to my original review, I *never* requested a bathroom with support bars at the time of booking. Also, contrary to what management states, I *did* bring my dissatisfaction with the room to the staff's attention - and asked for a room on a higher floor, thinking it would alleviate some of the problems (not something you would do if you needed a handicapped room!). Like I mentioned, they were not helpful. Poor customer service, during the stay as well as since! I would NEVER stay there again and would not recommend staying there unless you want a headache during and after! Original review follows...

Stayed here for a night in Aug 09. I called ahead and made reservations for two rooms. When I got to the hotel, discovered that the rooms were on the first floor. One overlooked the driveway, the other overlooked the parking lot and the window was street-level to the back entrance and the ashtray. We went to pull the curtain aside, and the whole thing came off of the end of the rod. I went to the front desk to complain about this and ask for a different room and was met with a blank stare about the curtain and told that there was just one other room left (same floor). Ironically, the "vacancy" sign was on the entire stay...so that was a bit curious.

The room itself was crowded with furniture, smelled weird, and there were hairs that were not mine on the sheets. The sheets and furnishings were very worn. The bathroom was *really* dimly lit with an odd yellowish green light and had a huge chair for the disabled in it that took up a lot of room. The curtains covered the A/C so we had to prop the curtains up with a chair to run it. We were not able to have the curtains or window open because people were smoking outside and there was zero privacy.
The breakfast was three kinds of cereal, gross looking muffins, toast and some juice. The waitstaff was very unhelpful. The front desk person the next morning was nice though.

They advertise that they have a hot tub, but it was out of order. This proved to be a blessing because our room was right next to the hot tub room.

The only good thing was the location, which was a 10 minute walk from downtown. However, with such a plethora of hotel options in Banff I don't know why anyone would stay here.

Arrived 6pm in Banff and pot luck rang this hotel. As have 2 children 19, 21, really wanted 3 beds, and they had a room with 2 queens and a sofa bed, so booked it quick, on the 3rd floor. Think the room had recently been upgraded as the bathroom looked all new and the furniture and bit flimsy, but beds fine and room spacious - besides the bed, table, chairs, fridge, and lovely view. As other reviews the room had a half circle window with no curtains so did tend to wake up early, but my children still managed to sleep in. Location good, not far to town. Jacuzzi was working and lovely as was the sauna. The fitness room was a bit cramped but reasonable equipment. Car parking good in the basement. Breakfast was a bit of a disappointment but you could purchase food if you wished, although the service was a bit slow we found. We did eat there one evening, which was nice but the service was slow which was a shame.
I would go back. Other hotels we had seen advertised were more expensive and further out, we could walk into town from here which was a boon, and it was quiet.

We got this hotel at quite a low rate through hotwire.
The room was quite big (2 queen sized beds) and it was clean.
Staff was very friendly and helpful.
Only a 5 minute walk from all the stores and restaurants in Banff.
Just two little dissapointements:
The continental breakfast was VERY basic. We decided to eat elsewhere on our 2nd morning.
There was no mini fridge in our room even though there was a space for it under the tv. Had to load the sink with ice and water to have cold beverages.

In general, a very good experience!

Room was larger than most (3rd floor) with 2 queens, fridge, microwave, little kitchen sink, table and chairs to eat at, nice view towards mountains, very high ceiling. Quiet even though this was on the main street of town – but then the fan helped for that. Safeway 3 blocks away.

Fabulous staff, I’m sure they are sadly underpaid: uniformly helpful during many interactions both before and during my 5 days at the hotel.

Free breakfast at adjacent restaurant (not owned by hotel) was a joke, poor enough to try to encourage people to buy a “better” meal. (Bringing your own food was not allowed, we were ejected carrying our fruit and granola they didn’t have.)

I would recommend this hotel with extreme misgivings about their providing a suitable breakfast.
