Stayed here for 3 nights in September 2012 . The room was basic but very clean and the beds were really comfortable. The reception staff were always friendly and very helpful. We had breakfast in the restaurant good value for money we also ate a steak there one evening it was cooked to perfection.

huge rooms, we had a suite which was perfect - 1 bathroom but 2 late rooms and a sofa bed that was decent in the kichenette area. comfy, clean, what more to ask for?
the restaurant was good for breakfast 1 morning - only 1 server, felt she was a bit rushed but she was very kind with our requests to heat up the baby's food etc.
parking (free) was a bit squishy at the back, had to make sure we parked in such a way that hitting other big minivans would be less of an issue... :D
otherwise, good fine and for the price (155.night) a total deal compared to other hotels in the area. a quick walk to chili's for dinner and a quick 20 minute walk to the main tourist area/shopping.

Thanks so much for your feedback. I am so encouraged by your remarks. Our 65 room hotel has really tried hard to focus on pricepoint and comfort. Our location of two blocks from downtown makes any guest realize how great it is to be near the action of Banff. El Toro is a fantastic restaurant and has had rave reviews from so many of our guests on the reasonable and tasty breakfast and equally the marvelous dinner selection. The FREE parking is one of the perks that Irwin's has compared to so many hotels in Banff. Parking is free and we offer free underground parking as well. Banff is busy so it can be a real treat to park and walk. Thanks for the positive feedback and the great remarks that help us stay connected to the guests. Cheers.

Stayed here for one night in middle August 2012. I was surprised of the amount of people in Banff in August. The hotel had a good Tapas restaurant. The rooms were ok and the sauna and the jacuzzi were great after a long walk down from the rainy Sulphur Mountain. The indoor parking was good for a fullsize car like we had. Although the breakfast was not included, or because of that, the breakfast menu was excellent and the food tasted great. The location of the hotel is great because it is close to Banff downtown.

Thank you so much for your feedback on our hotel. The Irwin's Mountain Inn has been around since 1967 and the El Toro Restaurant continues to provide great service for the last 40 years. We are very proud of our partnership with El Toro and the amazing food they provide. The variety and price point are excellent and the service is second to none. I am so glad you enjoyed our hot tub and the ambiance of our well lit room. The temperature is right after a long hike in the cool mountain air. I do hope you come back and visit again. Glad you were able to stay with us and I hope you had a fantastic trip to Canada. Cheers.

My father, husband and I stayed here for 1 night in August 2012 (room 254).

Room: 2 queen beds, combo desk / breakfast buffet, small open closet, kitchennette with microwave, fridge, sink and bathroom. Flat screen tv. You can open the windows and the door to nowhere. Room was clean. Beds were comfortable.

The room itself was quiet. However, my father and husband wanted to keep the window open at night instead of using the air conditioner. At night you could hear the freight trains blow their whistles (probably about 4 or 5 during the night we were there). If you're a light sleeper keep the windows closed and use the air conditioning instead.

Staff - reception staff was friendly and helpful.

Parking - on site parking included - underground garage. You have to give them your car make, model and license number so they know you are a registered guest.

Restaurant - no room service but they have a restaurant associated with the hotel. We had a good breakfast there the next day.

Internet: Wifi worked in the room - you need a password from reception.

Security - no in room safe.

Other Facilities - they did have a small fitness room, a laundry room and ski storage area. Skis / snowboards are not allowed in the room.

Location - on Banff Avenue about 3 blocks away from the main strip of restaurants & shops. Easy walking. Banff is located within a national park - if you are driving here you either have to pay a daily fee or have a yearly pass if you are a local.

Grocery - there is a big grocery store a couple of blocks away from the hotel.

ATM - several in town.

Things to do: LOTS of outdoor nature stuff to do. Visitor Center a couple of blocks away for detailed information. Gondola to the top of Sulfur Mtn on a clear day gives fantastic views, Hot Pool is nice, lots of hiking / biking / water sports / skiing options. Lake Louise / Morraine Lake is approximately 30 minutes away.

PLEASE do not feed or try to touch the wildlife. "A fed animal is a dead animal". They either become used to humans and become a nuisance coming into town for garbage etc and have to be relocated or killed if they become aggressive (bears). Human food is not part of their natural diet - no bread for squirrels, birds etc - they often become dependant on humans and then starve in the winter. Moose / Elk also come into town once a year and every year some tourists are hurt because they get too close to them and their babies trying to get pictures etc. Please just admire from afar - "Take only photos and leave only footprints". Let us leave the national park as the gem it is for the critters and future generationst to enjoy. Thanks!

Thank you kindly for your review. I appreciate such thorough overview for Banff and our hotel as it helps so many future guests with questions they may have about Banff or the hotel they are staying in. One of the greatest compliments we get is when our staff are seen as helpful and friendly. This is a huge goal of ours. The parking is FREE and the WIFI is FREE as well. All of our rooms are freely air conditioned. And Banff is indeed full of wildlife that needs to be treated respectfully. Thanks so much for your review. It is greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Rooms are satisfactory: clean, quiet, comfortable beds, reasonable prices. The location is great - easy walking distance to center of town. Parking lot is small/cramped and there was no space available on our first night's stay.

Thanks so much for your review. I am so glad that we were able to meet your needs with our 65 room hotel. Banff is so beautiful at this time of year and can be so very busy. Irwin's offers FREE parking at our hotel which is not the case with most hotels in Banff. Our FREE underground parking is perfect for minivans and cars and our courtyard parking works for SUV's and trucks. Parking can be tight at this time of year. We acknowledge your issue and thank you for your patience. Our hotel offers free Bus parking for Tour groups and our hotel does sit very close to downtown to create easy park and walk touring. Thanks again for your review and best wishes for your summer travels.

Moldy rooms. Smell like wet dog. couldnt stay for more than a day and didnt even get offered the back for the rest of the money for which we did not even stay. Is our society becoming that greedy. People spend there hard earned money on these vacations and getting places like Irwin Mountain Inn is a heavy disappointment.

Thank you for your feedback despite the inaccurate information. Our guest feedback is both valuable and helpful. Our 65 room hotel is quite the opposite when it comes to guest issues. As noted in many of the reviews, our front desk staff is both helpful and efficient and unfortunately there was no effort made from your part to have a chance to solve your issues. I can assure you that our rooms are both clean and free from mould. Our housekeeping staff has won housekeeping awards and is trained by our most excellent Housekeeping Manager who brings many years of experience in the hospitality field. We use ECOLAB products to clean our rooms and this ensures any cleaning discrepancies. I am sorry we did not meet your expectations; I wish you would have brought this to the front desk's attention and allowed us to resolve your guest issues in short order. Your reservation was booked with an OTA (Expedia, etc.). Booking directly with the hotel can be such an easy process. Our rates are both reasonable and our staff are happy to help with any needs. I'd be happy to talk to you by phone to discuss this matter personally, however, your approach to walking out the door without checking at the desk does not allow us to solve this problem.
