Great artisan bread shop providing fantastic, healthy breakfast or lunch sandwiches, salads and soups. Very good quality and value. Try the toasted sandwiches!

For the most part the coffee was very good and the pastries were great. We went back multiple times during our recent 4 day stay in Banff. Their oatmeal raisin cookies were incredible. The staff was always friendly and attentive.

Breakfast sandwiches here were just what was required to set us up for a day of sightseeing. The granola with fruit compote looked wonderful.

Those three things-- Passion, Flair, Imagination-- are something we know about, with regard to artisan bakeries and/ or breakfast-lunch cafes. Our sister-in-law is a first class artisan baker in the Pacific Northwest. The nearest coffeehouse to where we live-- Macy's in Flagstaff-- is world class. Perhaps these things make us too qualified, even snobs on these subjects. Be that as it may …

The house coffee at Wildflower was so weak we didn't know for awhile if we'd mistakenly gotten tea. Weak tea at that. The buttermilk muffin was moist, fluffy, and full of blueberries. A 3.5 out of 5 for a muffin lacking any spice or flair. But our two sandwiches-- the grilled cheese and breakfast sandwich-- were plain and ordinary to the point of being boring.

Wild Flower also lacks atmosphere and seems designed to push the crowd through in big numbers, rather than having an ambience that makes folks want to stay and enjoy what they get. They could also use someone out bussing the tables every now and then.

For now, they ought to change the name to Mildflower or even Blandflower.

Caveat, we will say that the loaves of breads on the shelves looked great, although we did not buy one.

Thanks for providing feedback on our bakery. I’m sorry the drip coffee you tried was flavourless, I can assure you this is not the norm. We source all of our organic coffee from Fratello, a roasters in Calgary. Our staff receive frequent training and we are proud of the coffee we brew.

We’re currently updating the menu to offer a wider range of tasty treats for our guests. The change does mean that bakers are still refining certain recipes. I’m confident in a few weeks they will have them dialed and you wouldn’t find things bland. However, I recognize that doesn’t change your experience and apologize you were disappointed.

We’re also hoping to renovate soon so that people don’t feel rushed through the space. We hope you give us another try when all of this is in place! Next time you will have to try a loaf of bread! Thanks again for your feedback.

I usually have breakfast and/or lunch at the Wild Flour. A bowl of their granola with yogurt and fruit compote will set you up for a full morning of walking. Their unique wraps and paninis are excellent as well.
