I was a little hesitant staying here...I like my showers! But the hostel is fantastic! I stayed here as part of a Moose Network tour and it was definitely one of the best hostel's I stayed in. It is very clean and obviously well taken care of and the owner is obviously very proud of it. Kitchen is spacious and more than adequate. Nice hike to the top of the hill. Even though it rained the night we were there we had great fun.

Another wilderness hostel in the middle of nowhere. This place is amazing. The don't have shower, but there is a sauna close to the river. You can get water from the river, heat it, have a "shower" and sauna at the same time. Kitchen and rooms are clean and organized. Good place to stay when alone or with friends. Since they only have dorm rooms and wouldn't say this is a good place for couples.

Really friendly folks and perfect wilderness feel with some nice comforts.

*GORGEOUS Location!
* SAUNA!
* Glacier fed stream
* Volleyball (I saw the court but didn't use)
* Communal Campfire
* Communal Kitchen
* The most immaculate outhouse I have ever seen! It was brand new, had solar panels to light the area and hand sanitizer.

The setup certainly drives communal activity, we were quickly engaged with all the other folk there talking about everyone's adventures and telling stories. Staff is super helpful, knowledgeable and friendly!

I also went from the sauna to the freezing stream! If you really have to it's possible to bath in the sauna but that means some work on your part.

The low rated review in spanish is defintely outdated.

Room Tip: Beds are short, taller folks may want to try to get a bed were their feet can hang off. I'm 6...

We stayed here for 3 nights and did some day ski-touring from the hostel. The location is excellent, in the middle of the mountains with a heap of options of places to go. The hostel has a big kitchen and common room. The bunk rooms are not overly large, but there weren't a lot of guests and the manager spread the visitors out between them so we got one to ourselves. It was very warm, with plenty of bedding. There was running water and LED lighting. So it was far more comfortable than i was expecting of a wilderness hostel and great value for money.

This hostel is inviting. Has a nice creek running along side it. Nice common area. Bunk beds are ok but if you are over six feet tall you will feel cramped. They have a sauna hut which I didn't try but heard good things about. Otherwise it is part of the HI group and stays are affordable and rustic. I would stay here again.

I stayed here as part of a Moose Network tour, and was wary of a wilderness hostel with no showers etc being offered. However, it was the best stay of my trip, and really gave me memories forever.

As a group we spent the night in the sauna, jumping into a glacial river and then 'smores round the camp fire. The hostel "warden" was friendly, and courteous. We made dinner in the large kitchen area and then went for walks in this beautiful part of Canada, stopping to view the beavers dam a short way from the hostel.

Great place, definetly on the revisit list in the future.

Don't expect luxury, but don't avoid this place because of its remoteness!

Room Tip: dorm style rooms

My husband and I traveled by motorcycles through Jasper, Banff and Kooteney. On a particularly cold night, we decided to "splurge" and stay in a hostel instead of camping. This was my first wilderness hostel, and I thought it was delightful. It's in a gorgeous spot well away from the road and right on a lovely stream. The substitute host let us park our motorcycles right next to our cabin (cars have to stay down in the parking lot), and he built a large fire so all the guests could sit outside in the cold evening and talk. It's a gorgeous site, very primitive (pit toilets, just one "faucet" in the kitchen, no shower, etc.) but incredibly cozy (bedrooms and common room are kept quite warm). There's even a sauna! It's not a place for those who want to stay up late (lights out and quiet time are STRICTLY enforced), who need running water, or who do not want to share a room (new bed rooms are not opened until every bed of a currently open room is occupied). The rules are rigidly enforced - no hanging out in the kitchen after hours, for instance - and that can feel, well, rigid. Read up on the rules of Canadian wilderness hostels before booking, so you know what you are getting into. If you understand the restrictions, and your fellow travelers are cool people, you will have a great time here. One caution - short beds!
