We recently had a spectacular stay at Buffalo Mountain Lodge. Wonderful interiors (our room was beautiful and the bed was so comfortable!) We had very friendly service (a little bit slow-but we were in no rush and enjoyed the ambiance of the lodge style lounge). The food was superior. We started with the Atlantic mussels’ appetizer. The flavor was excellent. My boyfriend had the steak for his entrée and he said it was “one of the best he has ever had!” I had the chicken flat bread and it was so delicious that we ordered another later that night from room service. We found that it was very reasonably priced for a luxury style hotel. We visited the outdoor hot tub after dinner and then enjoyed the wood burning fireplace in our room which made for a cozy and romantic evening. In the morning, we ate at the buffet which featured a wide variety of breakfast items including fresh fruit, eggs and a wonderful selection of cheese. We look forward to our next visit.

We visited here for a mid week school break and could not have been happier. Having snow in Oct is too early but if you have to look at it this is the place to be. Our check-in was friendly and he upgraded us to a better room than we had booked. Our room was ice cold when we checked in bit we were thrilled as we wanted to have a fire before bed. Sitting in a hot tub that is really nice and hot with flakes softly falling down is a great way to end the day. We did not eat at the restaurant this trip. The big male elk who greeted us as we turned up Tunnel Mtn road was perfect.

We've stayed at BML a number of times over the past 20 years. This time seemed to be disappointing in what is a very nice rustic, mountain inspired, iconic Banff lodge. The service was ok (friendly, helpful, very slow....much as it always has been). Our first room was cold and the toilet did not work, but we were quickly moved after some heroic toilet plunging by the bell man. The second room was a typical BML room with 2 doubles on carpeted floor and rundle stone floor for the foyer and full bathroom. The room is spacious enough and cozy, although much of the willow branch furniture has not been repaired or cleaned over the many years. The lamp had a fine globe of a spider's web billowing above it. The TV was one of the old CRT type but there was ample wifi throughout the lodge properties. The beds can only be described as average and while the woollen throws on the chairs are a nice touch for a wintery stay, the last cleaning could not be determined. The bathroom was adequate and relatively clean, except for the yellow ring around the inside of the toilet. Hot water was hot and cold water was cold. The highlight of the rooms is, of course, a real wood burning fireplace with a supply of kindling and wood in basket on the hearth. More is available outside nearby. A hot roaring fire almost makes up for all the other shortcomings as one can be convinced that we really are not staying at a Westin or Fairmont, but are in a mountain cabin. The food was average to slightly above average, which I am disappointed to say, is a step down from the excellent it used to be. The restaurant used to be a paragon of rocky mountain cuisine, but there are better offerings elsewhere in Banff (and Calgary). The market has gone upscale and improved, while BML has not. The lounge is slow and the service inexperienced....and they close early around 10 or 11 pm. Glad I brought my bottle of Macallen 15 for to enjoy with our friends. While an enjoyable weekend and we'll likely be back at some point, we'll more likely stay at the Banff Springs next time we're in Banff (as long as we don't get one of their ancient rooms).

Room Tip: Request one of the larger rooms with in-floor heating and a claw tub.

Banff in itself is a beautiful place and staying at Buffalo Mountain Lodge made our stay that much better. This place is absolutely beautiful and the staff is amazing! I found this deal for a 4 day stay through Livingsocial.com and I am so happy I did! My boyfriend and I were travelling to Calgary for my aunt's wedding and decided that we couldn't go to Alberta without visiting beautiful Banff. Even if we didn't find this deal on Livingsocial I think this place is worth every penny! Plus there is complimentary wifi which is hard to come by nowadays when staying at a more expensive place.

We arrived a bit early and although we were before check-in time we decided to go to the lobby and see if we could check in anyways. Well, when we got there as expected our room wasn't busy but for an extra $50 more they offered us the premier room that was ready, better and that had a MUCH better view! Of course we jumped on this, and don't regret it at all! Our room was absolutely amazing as well as the bathroom, and everything was so clean! We had a balcony which looked out to a breathtaking view of the mountains!

This resort was also conveniently located to the core of downtown Banff so it was only a 2 minute car drive. The staff was so helpful and friendly! They were able to give us a map to show us some of their favourite places to eat downtown as well as told us about the restaurants that were available on site. Both restaurants Cilantro and Sleeping Buffalo were delicious and the wait staff was quick and efficient! Great quality food worth the cost.

Overall we had a great stay and will be recommending Buffalo Mountain Lodge to everyone. And we will definitely stay there again!

Room Tip: If you don't mind paying extra ask to stay in the Premier room

Lovely landscaping, pretty room, and large, but missing some important features: No screen on the door, dirty tub, noisy, inadequate bedding. It was very hot the day we were there and the mosquitos were bad, therefore screens on the doors would have been nice so we could get some cross ventilation to cool the room in the evening. (No AC is ok by me, but screened windows on just one wall are not enough.)

The wedding party running until 2 am outside our room was annoying, and the noisy truck at 3 am to clean their mess was totally inappropriate. Only bedding was sheets and a winter-weight comforter. A very light weight blanket or 2 would have been a good addition. Also I was surprised to not find a full-length mirror anywhere in this otherwise "over appointed" room. The wonderfully luxurious bathtub was not clean.....something I didn't notice until I was sitting in it and could see the previous bather's bathtub ring. A bit of dusting was also in order. For this kind of money it shouldn't be asking too much to expect the minimum: cleanliness and a good night's sleep.

Room Tip: You will probably enjoy something downtown much more than this place, though the grounds were very n...

This gem, was a surprise and delight. Was there for meetings, and right from check-in, received warm, attentive service. The "cabin" I had, had a King bed, with over stuffed duvet. The cabin also had a fire burning stove, already to go...just strike the match and FIRE. The bathroom, had a claw foot tub, and great design. The whole package was nice. So nice that I was able to overlook some of the housekeeping flaws, in both bedroom and bathroom. The meals I had were top notch, and service good. They also have an outdoor hot tub.....sitting in there with the snow cascading down, was the perfect was to cap a night. I will be back!

I had visited Buffalo Mountain Lodge previously for a wedding, but had never stayed here. Once we arrived I wondered why we hadn't - it was lovely from beginning to end. The cabins are gorgeous - clean, comfortable and quiet. We loved the atmosphere, the staff, and especially the enormous hot tub (be careful though - the steps are slippery). The only downside was that I found the beds a little too firm for my liking. But the linens were nice and the bathroom was even nicer.
