Stunning scenery and some wonderful photographic moments. A real chance of a lifetime and some "great escape" moments - fresh clean air, simply wonderful.
At times you do feel like you are following the same tourist coaches around the various scenic spots to get your photographs yet it is a case of just do it, once in a lifetime.
Banff is a truly magical place and offers so much that it could cater to all kinds of people. From endless waterfalls to beautiful lakes, mountain views to amazing wildlife, it is worth the visit. It is only about an hour's drive from Downtown Calgary and makes you feel like you are much much further away. Book your park passes in advance to save time and be sure to venture beyond the famous Lake Louise as there are other spots that are just as beautiful. Banff town is also a great pit stop and has a host of eateries and shops.
The scenery was spectacular; the guides were friendly, helpful, and personable, the weather cooperated, as it was warm enough to explore, yet cool enough not to break into a sweat.
We feel sorry for the merchants. We are camping in Banff and while we typically contribute to the economy, apparently its a queer/gay weekend in Banff so both of us couples went to Canmore and Lake Louise instead. No money spent in Banff.
Banff National Park has been on my bucket list for many years. It is truly magnificent. Lake Louise and Moraine Lake were gorgeous. The entire area is one scenic panorama leading to another. There were still some crowded areas after Labor Day but it was manageable compared to what mid-summer must be like. We were a bit surprise that we didn’t see any wildlife at all.
