About 30 minutes out of Banff on our way to Calgary we visited the Canyon and Falls and had a great walk up to the highest fall which was impressive. On the way we passed about 5 other falls and some great canyon scenery. The canyon has been carved out by the river over many years and in places is very deep, some great rock formations. In one spot their is a small cave which you can enter where the river used to flow through but no more as the river is now well below the cave level . Some of the walkways are impressive as they are built into the rock face with nothing below them which gives you a great sensation of hanging over the canyon. We were there midday so their were lots of walkers enjoying the nice walk in and out. It was quite hot so we had a lovely ice cream from a little ice cream shop there as we finished the walk. The place has a very interesting history and you can read all about the family that developed the walk. Well worth the visit.

This place is awesome, but sadly, is full of people. I really mean, packed of people. So go early in the morning or by the end of the afternoon. The walk is easy and nice. I would recommend spending additional time and taking the trail to the inkpots, which is really nice and less packed with people. Food is expensive at the place, so take your own food with you.

Another stop on our Rockies tour. This was a nice little hike (easy if you're a walker) to the first waterfall, we didn't have time for the second. The closest you can get to the falls is inside the cave which only holds about 6 on the viewing platform.
Not a spectacular falls but nice and worth the walk.

Nice hike to the waterfalls, kids liked the tunnel at the lower falls. Went on Labor Day weekend so it was too crowded, will return on a less busy weekend.

It is a fun hike to do in all seasons !!
The sounds and views are breathtaking !!
It is even worth the climb up to the ink pots !! Take a bootle of water and pack a pinic lunch !! We return every year every season !
Summer time the trails can be very busy, but if you head out in the spring and fall, its very pretty !
Winter time is amazing with the frozen water and you can sometimes watch ice climbers at the upper falls , just make sure you have good footwear in the winter the trails can get slippery !! ENJOY :)
