About 30 minutes out of Banff on our way to Calgary we visited the Canyon and Falls and had a great walk up to the highest fall which was impressive. On the way we passed about 5 other falls and some great canyon scenery. The canyon has been carved out by the river over many years and in places is very deep, some great rock formations. In one spot their is a small cave which you can enter where the river used to flow through but no more as the river is now well below the cave level . Some of the walkways are impressive as they are built into the rock face with nothing below them which gives you a great sensation of hanging over the canyon. We were there midday so their were lots of walkers enjoying the nice walk in and out. It was quite hot so we had a lovely ice cream from a little ice cream shop there as we finished the walk. The place has a very interesting history and you can read all about the family that developed the walk. Well worth the visit.
