“This is a must-see!”
Reviewed June 10, 2013

Its a little bit of a hike to get to this, but well worth it! The force of the water in this river is unbelievable and you can get right next to it on the large rocks. You are surrounded by mountains, of course, so this is a beautiful place. You will be amazed at the power you will see as the water rushes by.

“Easily Missed - but don't”
Reviewed May 30, 2013

This is one of my Fave spots along the Icefields Parkway Drive. Once parked just a few minutes walk down to the bridge and canyon. This is a very narrow canyon with a wooden bridge crossing it. Careful on the rocks, but it is nice to sit in the sun and have a snack. The way the water has carved out the rocks is so beautiful.

“Awesome. Loved this, and it's an easy hike/stop.”
Reviewed April 23, 2013

Went on a clear day, loved it. Easy hike to get there and you can go further if weather is nice. Easy stop and doesn't take forever. Perfect if you want to get a quick stop in.

“Worth a stop”
Reviewed November 27, 2012

From the parking area on the roadside there is a 10 or 15 minute walk down to the foot bridge over the canyon. The canyon itself is really impressive and we enjoyed our stop here. If you are driving along the icefield parkway then stop here for a walk.

“Short walk if you need a break from driving”
Reviewed August 24, 2012

This appears to be one of the stops on the Icefields Parkway which doesn’t get hordes of visitors so that’s a plus point straight away! It’s a few miles short of the Saskatchewan River Crossing heading North and there is a reasonable pull-in area on the left side of the road.

Don’t be put off by the fact that you’re heading into a woodland - it’s a pleasant downhill walk for 10 minutes and a moderate stretch going back up when you retrace your tracks! When we went there (in September 2011) the unpaved trail was in a decent condition. Keep a lookout en route - we spotted a squirrel right by the path and got a good close-up view.

The canyon is not nearly as deep as others we visited but the water is fast moving through this short stretch and there is a bridge to allow you to cross to the rocks on the other side. There are nice views up and down the valley, typical of the area, and spots to have a snack if you have brought one. I’d say worth a stop if you’re looking for a short break from driving.
