Owner description: Scenic highway cutting through breathtakingly beautiful mountain passes.

Wonderful drive with spectacular scenery surrounded by views of mountains on every turn all the way to the Columbia Icefields. We were there in early October and the Parkway was quiet with few cars. Easily distracted and exceed speed limit; watch out for police cars.

Some time you find yourself in the middle of no where, and i felt when the dominating and awe inspiring beauty of this Icefields Parkway unfolded before us.The breath taking view of snow-capped peaks and endless mountain ridges, spectacular glaciers, turquoise ice...crystal clear blue lakes and half frozen rivers and other side the lush green forest of juniper and pine trees on the lower slopes, firs and spruces at higher elevations, and also colourful meadows.....I thought this must be the Heaven looks like.
Icefields Parkway is a scenic highway cutting through spectacular and beautiful mountain passes and connects the natural splendour of Banff and Jasper National Parks,To travel through this parkway ,a Canadian National Park Permit is required, which can be purchased at the entry point,We took 2 days to cover this 232 km one way trip just to enjoy the awesome view with a leisurely pursuits.Day one we stayed at Canmore ,in a cabin, with a fantastic view of Three Sisters and the next day we rested in a resort near the famous Sunwapta Falls. There are many hotels and guest houses available at the most picturesque Jasper town.also.On this parkway there are no gas stations or Food courts, but ample options to stop at different designated view points to take a short walk and immerse you in this rugged wilderness. We were lucky enough to have a thrilling photo opportunity of mother black bear with her three little cubs.
It was the best drive i have in my life and no reviews can do justice to this jaw-dropping beauty,It is must for any nature lover to travel this parkway.

Undoubtedly some of the most gorgeous scenery we have ever driven through! Mile after mile of majectic snow capped mountains with hanging glaciers right along the roadways. Our endpoint was the Columbia Icefields Tour but getting there was indeed a pleasure!

We saw a mother bear and cub just on the downhill stretch of the big bend. We completed the trip in both directions. Worth doing cause the return trip we had snow falls that had started to cover the mountain tops.

This summer we flew into Calgary and went to the Stampede. Then we rented a car and drove to Banff and then on to Jasper. The scenery is spectacular. We found Banff a little 'touristy' but the town of Jasper was just perfect. I hope everyone gets to make this journey once in their lives. We certainly will go back again!!!!!
