We had a wonderful two weeks at Bason farm. The weather wasn't kind but the welcome couldn't have been warmer. We visited Rosemoor gardens. Well worth the visit. The Half Moon did super food and went out of the way to make our anniversary special for us. The farm had a very relaxed atmosphere and we enjoyed every minute of our stay. Thanks to Catherine and Mark for making our holiday so enjoyable.

Room Tip: Great holiday with lovely countryside surroundings.if peace and quiet iwith wonderful breakfasts is...

We found this lovely B&B on the internet and it was well worth the 5 hour drive from Nottingham to get there. It is set deep in rural Devon, yet you can get to most of the major centres in 30 minutes or so. We were welcomed warmly on arrival by Cathy and made to feel like nothing was too much trouble throughout our stay. We had beautiful breakfasts, whatever we liked, with beautiful free range eggs from the resident hens. The setting is lovely, surrounded by beautiful fields of wild flowers, woods, tranquil streams and friendly animals including chickens, ducks, cows, horses and dogs. There are several good pubs in the nearby villages with good real ales and hearty home-cooked food and Cathy will happily recommend something if required. My wife and I went seeking a few days away from it all in a beautifully tranquil setting and were not disappointed, to be able to wake up and here nothing but wildlife made it so special.

I have just returned from a stay at Bason Farm in West Devon. It took a while to find the farm, at the end of a winding lane, but it was well worth the wait. It's as pretty as a picture with lovely gardens and a pond complete with ducks. Cathy, who runs the B&B, made us feel really welcome and arranged a cream tea on arrival. The room was furnished traditionally and very clean. The farm is surrounded by some lovely countryside, great for walking and there are farm trails you can follow. You can also get involved with feeding the ducks and collecting eggs from the hens or else you can just use it a place to stay while exploring Devon. We visited Becky Falls and Canonteign falls and personally I preferred Canonteign (it just seemed a bit more natural, less commercial and the waterfall is more impressive). We also popped over the border to Cornwall and went to Bude, which has a gorgeous beach. The food at Bason Farm was really good but they only serve breakfast so you have to get dinner elsewhere, however Cathy can let you know of the local pubs and restaurants and can arrange for a table to be booked for you. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful time away from the crowds.
