“A delightful and welcoming place to stay”
Reviewed August 24, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Beautiful country side location.
Jo and Veronica could not be more helpful and the rooms were spacious and very comfortable. En suite facilities wer excellent.
Breakfasts were first class with delicious home made produce. Certainly intend to come again and would recommend as an excellent b and b.
Thank you both for making us so welcome.

“Highly, Highly Recommended!”
Reviewed July 25, 2016 for a stay in July 2016

Our sat nav took us right to the door of the accommodation though from our approaching direction we did come down the narrower lanes of the two options! The rooms are clearly new and this was confirmed by Jo and Veronica as being their first year doing B & B. They have excelled and I thought it was ideal. Although attached to the house the B & B area is entirely self-contained with outside access into the conservatory for our private use and then directly into the bedroom. We were given a key to come and go as we pleased. The room was immaculate, the large bathroom had both a shower and a bath and there was a double and single bed, wardrobe space and bedside drawer as well as tea and coffee making facilities and welcoming biscuits. The conservatory had a seating area and table and chairs where breakfast was served and there was ample parking outside shared with the self catering accommodating in the same location.

The location was fabulous. Very quiet and rural and just what we wanted but if you want to be close to lots of towns and amenities this wont be for you.

Breakfast was served between 8 and 9am (we chose the time) and was ordered the night before. One of our group is gluten free and this was well accommodated also with a range of foods for her. Breakfast was lovely. Homemade or local produce was on offer including local honey and homemade jam and the bacon from the local butcher was really nice as were the sausages made from the farm's pork. Veronica recommended a local pub - The Kelstedge - for dinner which was about 15 minutes walk (5 minutes max by car) and food here was really good so we went both nights.

The room also had information on local places of interest and details for walks and we went on the extended 90 minute walk which was great despite the hills! The instructions were spot on except there were 6 steps into the field after the house not 3!

We would love to return in the future to either the B & B or Acorn Cottage opposite as Veronica showed us round this and it was lovely too! Both Jo and Veronica were very welcoming and there was only one disappointment with our time at the cottage....two nights wasn't enough!

We, found Oaks Lane farm B&B but couldn't find many reviews of it, however based on googling the area we took a chance, and wow, it was worth taking the chance!

It was a little hard to find the place at first using a satnav but eventually it found the place, a small country lane very narrow roads but perfectly OK for a car go drive along and you turn into a gravelled drive way surrounded by beautiful trees bushes and plants, lovely and secluded.. The garden looks perfect, Jo and Veronica (the owners) have found a perfect balance of looking after the garden not letting it become overgrown, but not tidying it up so much as it loses its mystery and charm, little pathways leading off running water somewhere hidden, benches tucked away to sit and relax...

There are two accommodation types, one is a lovely stone cottage which sleeps between 4 and 6 I think... That is self catering and looked beautiful from the outside but we didn't stay there, and there is also the room we stopped in.. It's an annex of the farm house the owners live in... You go through the front door and you are in a tiny hallway. To the right is a door to the owners house and to the left is the bed and breakfast accommodation.

Turning left takes you into a conservatory, where there is a 2 seat settee and a chair, also a dining table and three chairs. This is totally for the use of guests staying there and where you have your breakfast overlooking the wonderful gardens. Could there be a more beautiful spot to eat your breakfast?

Walking through the conservatory you come to the door to your room.

Inside there is a good sized double bed and a single bed, a TV/dvd player on the wall, a small table with kettle, biscuits tea coffee etc a chair a bedside table between the beds with an iPod dock/clock radio (lightning connection) and two wardrobes of a good size.

Another door leads to the bathroom which has a separate bath, shower cubicle, sink, toilet and heated towel rail.

Now if you're reading this you may think all this is standard, which yes it is but what is different to many places is everything was so spotless the whole bathroom literally looked like it had just been fitted thirty minutes before we arrived, spotless it almost seemed wrong to go in and use the bathroom it was that clean, toiletries were provided and very trusting owners left the stored in a small cupboard in the bathroom. The shower was very powerful and spacious.

The bedroom matched the bathroom for cleanliness sheets, pillows all looked brand new, beds were VERY comfortable, and it was always warm due to underfloor heating..

You can tell the owners have put a great deal of time, effort and money into the accommodation and not just bought bits and bats to fill it up with.. Everything fit perfectly, had a purpose and was high quality....

Breakfast was a choice of items you could tick on a list and was all to a VERY high standard. Home made sausage, eggs and preserves..

Jo and Veronica were the perfect hosts, and have the perfect balance of being there but not being obtrusive in any way.. And it was a pleasure chatting to them about their small farm, which I believe that you can go and see if you arrange it with them first.

The room had wifi, which I didn't try as I used my own connection, 4g is perfect in the area.

I can honestly say that there is nothing I could improve upon at Oaks Lane Farm...

Jo and Veronica would give themselves a huge pat on the back from creating a small area of paradise in a corner of England.

Thank you so much for a lovely stay xx

“What a find! A lovely B & B in a lovely place.”
Reviewed June 9, 2016 for a stay in June 2016

This is one of the really good ones! It is situated up a little lane in the middle of the countryside, with gorgeous views over rolling hills. If you like taking walks in lovely countryside, which start just outside the front gate, this is for you. In addition, Matlock, Chesterfield, Buxton and Ashbourne (Dovedale) are within reach.

The room is really comfortable, with plenty of space and good facilities. With the well-proportioned bathroom and the conservatory, it's virtually an apartment! The garden areas at the front of the house are a delight. Jo and Veronica are obviously proud of their property, and it shows.

We were well looked after by Veronica, who is a friendly lady and easy to talk to. She makes a very good breakfast too.

We would definitely book again, and we would have no hesitation in recommending this B and B.

Our hosts were amazing. On arrival we were warmly met with biscuits and drinks and a personally named welcome pack. The bedroom, adjoining bathroom and concervatory were really clean and very coloured coordinated with underfloor heating making everywhere feel warm. The outlook and surrounding garden with patio table and chairs is an oasis. Plenty of great local pubs. Would recommend Oaks Lane Farm to all my friends and family. It's the best B&B we've been too.

“Fantastic B and B”
Reviewed March 28, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We have just returned from our Easter weekend away and are delighted with the choice of accommodation. Oak Lane Farm may be a little of the beaten track but the tranquility simply adds to its charm. A wonderful bright spacious room. A large bathroom containing both bath AND shower. The door from the bedroom leads directly to the delightful conservatory which is also the private breakfasting room. Jo and Veronica are excellent hosts and keep a clean smart and truly value for money B and B. We wish them all the best for the future

“Excellent welcoming peaceful location”
Reviewed March 19, 2016 for a stay in March 2016

Excellent location for a peaceful night's stay. The pub down the road is a ten minute walk away serving excellent meals. Jo and Veronica were most welcoming and couldn't do more for us serving us with an excellent breakfast the next morning in their lovely conservatory overlooking a well presented garden with beautiful spring flowers. Self contained accommodation in a very spacious room with tea and coffee making facilities and a modern spacious bathroom with powerful shower, underfloor heating and plenty of hot water. A wonderful stay. Thank you.
We'll be back!
