Great accommodation on the edge of the Peak District ! Spent a three night break here with friends in order to enjoy some winter walking. Although the weather was not brilliant the thought that we could return to accommodation next door to a CAMRA pub where lots of real ale warmed the soul, was a real treat and made every step of the walk worthwhile. The accommodation was spacious, warm and catered for all of our needs. Only comment to make was that rather than having four bunks in one room having a further single bed in the third room would be much better for smaller parties. However did not distract from our stay and we would definitely return

We were a party of 4 adults 3 kids and 2 dogs staying in the cottage over the new year period. On arrival we had a very warm welcome in the pub where we had Sunday lunch. We then settled into our cottage which was very clean and had all the facilities we needed.
The weather for the next 2 days was terrible but we still made a point of going on several long walks with the dogs safe in the knowledge that we would be returning to the warmth of 1 of the 3 open fires in the pub to enjoy a pint of their owned brewed beer. In fact we go so comfortable and were made so welcome that we actually had several pints of the 10+ locally and own brewed ales they had on tap. It was just great.
On New Years Eve we wanted to eat in the restaurant but they couldn't fit us in, but this was not a problem because they offered to make our dinner and then actually served it to us in the cottage. You can't get much better than that.
Overall we had a very special memorable time and would highly recommend the cottage and the pub.
Thanks guys you did yourselves proud.

I went here with a coach load of Wycombe fans on the way to our game at Mansfield on Saturday. It was brilliant. First the main attraction. For me it's the ciders, 14 in all, 5 I had left to try and it was mission accomplished. 2 or 3 of them were brewed in the village and were very nice. Also for real ale fans there are 12 on tap, as well as Belgian bottled beers, fruit wine and lots more besides,

Food was also decent, the home made sausages were delicious. I had the beef and horseradish ones. They normally come with mash and peas, but they were more than happy to swap for chips and mushy peas. I also had a great treacle pudding. Prices were reasonable, £8.50 for my mains and £3.95 for pudding.

I hope to return here again, and whether you are a foodie or just fancy a pint, it's well worth a visit.

This was our first stay at the Old Poets corner although we had been to the pub to eat and drink on numerous occasions. The rom was great the value for money excellent, the food both breakfast and evening meals were superb. The landlord and landlady are great hosts and the staff are friendly and helpful.
For a real ale drinker the selection of beers is wonderful and the bar is most welcoming.

We will certainly be back to stay again in the future
