“Nice Pub, good food”
Reviewed April 13, 2013

Lunch was good here, slightly higher price than would normally pay, but nice. Not much else in Repton, but this has a great atmosphere and good food.

arrived early for a 7.30 booking, the bar was packed beyond belief but we were served within seconds, as we were early, we took a drink outside and enjoyed the covered area. At the appropriate time, we made our way up to the garden room- what ann amazing room! Even though every table was full, with some very large parties in, the high ceilings and spacious feel made it feel very relaxed, the decor is stunning- keep your eye out for the cat, see if you can spot it (not real!! but mesmerising) Service was exceptional, we were seated in a lovely corner where we could watch everything going on, one teeny point though, it was difficult to read the menu as it was a little too dark! Waitress was fantastic, very attentive, polite and friendly, we felt very looked after. Nice to be offered complimentary bread and dipping oils .Starters of squid and carribean chicken were amazing. Husband had a steak, cooked to perfection and what a portion!!! Enormous! I had the beef strogonoff, again massive portion and very tasty. No room for desserts but what we saw other people having looked delicious. Loved the handmade choc served with the coffees and bill. fantastic restaurant, well worth a visit and children welcome until 9pm.

“A magical evening”
Reviewed April 10, 2013 via mobile

I have been in the bulls head at Repton, many and many times, but on last Monday evening 8th April, really was special and magical, the bar area was very full with locals and no where to seat, so we diced not wait to long and go to the new restaurant, I knew about it but, never actually had a dinner there before, the new Restaurante have a really magical, fairy tail atmosphere about it, with trees and tables under the trees, with little candles hanging down the trees. The service from the beginning was fantastic and in the dinning NATALIE the restaurant waitress was absolutely fantastic, she's one of the best waitress I ever had serving me and my friends, her attention to details was great, very very friendly, really high standards in costumer care, well done Nat. Recommend the Bulls Head to all my friends and family, great night fantastic service.

“Very good meal but shame we couldn't see it!”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

We have eaten at the Bulls Head lots of times now and usually have a very good meal. It is great to see this village pub doing so well in such difficult economic times however I do think they may be beginning to overstretch themselves. We last ate in the garden room on a Tuesday night. It was very busy and I was glad we had booked. The young staff were very attentive but they are picking up some American traits such as "Hi my name's ....... and I am your server for this evening " sometimes they are a bit too familiar/casual and try to teach old dogs new tricks ie. "would you like to taste the wine by doing the old sniffing and rolling round the glass and mouth test?" He was a bit too chatty and even told himself to go away and shut up after he had interupted our conversation several times.

The garden room (a permanent tent) is very dark in the evenings and unfortunately it was very difficult to read the menu, the waiter even got his torch out as he couldn't see it either. The food was very well cooked but we couldn't actually see what we were eating. We will remember to take a torch next time. The menu seems to be getting an Oriental bias and is also quite expensive, as is the wine list. The pizzas do not seem as good as they used to be. The bases are quite soggy in the middle and could probably do with a few more minutes in the oven.

More attention to detail is needed just because you are busy you should not take the customer for granted. When paying these sort of prices you expect to be made to feel a bit special and not at an American diner.
