“Lovely quiet setting, good value.”
Reviewed April 26, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Stayed Fri to Sun for birthday weekend mainly for family trip to Alton Towers on Sat. Cottages in a quiet countryside setting and only 15 min drive to Alton Towers. Very good value for money to stay here, cottage more than spacious for the 3 of us. Owners provided local knowledge and recommendations. Ate at ye olde crown Fri evening, 5 min drive away. Not busy only 2 other people eating. Menu typical home cooked pub food. OK for price. Sat evening ate at cloves Indian restaurant, 10 min drive. Good food, lots on the menu. Not busy, nicely decorated. Lots of outdoor space at cottage. 10 year old enjoyed trampoline although she was disappointed with Wi-Fi. Could not get upstairs however too be expected in the countryside. Don't think could have found anywhere better for the price. Would definitely stay here again should the opportunity arise.

“Fantastic”
Reviewed April 18, 2016 for a stay in April 2016

Lovely cottage, great price and fabulous rural location. Really quiet and a nice place to relax. Kitchen was well stocked with things like washing up liquid, tea, coffee etc as well as all the kitchen utensils we needed. Having two showers made getting out in the morning much easier. The owners were very friendly and happy for us to arrive late after dealing with London traffic and gave us a few good recommendations of where to eat locally. We drove to Mam Tor about an hour away to go walkkng but lots too see and do locally. Would recommend!

Lovely well appointed property, great secure gardens, we have two dogs who loved a big space to play. My boys aged 6 and 9 loved exploring the farm and using the trampoline. Cottage had lots of space and kitchen was very well equipped with everything you could possibly need.

“Really lovely dog-friendly cottage”

Just had a great stay in Birch cottage. Cottage is cosy but not small. Kitchen is well equipped with everything you need to either make a snack or a 3 course meal. Lounge is airy and comfortable with a good sized TV. Bedrooms are nicely decorated and quaint - remember to mind your head in the bedrooms as the roof slopes! Really useful having two bathrooms for quick morning getaways.

For us the main thing is the dog-friendly-ness. This cottage had a big well fenced garden which 2 boisterous Labradors couldn't escape from. Also you had the use of a large field, usually used for horses - so wear your wellies! The dogs really loved their time here, they enjoyed licking the horses that were brave enough to poke their heads over the fence!

This is a one of the best dog-friendly places we have ever stayed and we wouldn't hesitate to return.

“Good cottage and location”

Stayed with daughter, her partner, 20 month old grandchild and my dog. Cottage was ideally located for good walks within a short travelling distance eg Carsington Water, Tittersworth reservoir, Dovedale, Ilam Park. At all of these there were really good play parks for the baby while I took the dog on longer walks. The large enclosed garden at Birch cottage was the best I have found for the dog - she could not get out at all. Owners very accommodating and friendly. Will visit again.

Good accommodation at this farm in the countryside. We stayed in Birch Cottage which can sleep 4 people. Easy drive to the theme park in the morning and about 10 minutes into the nearest town. Some good country pubs nearby too if you don't fancy cooking, though the cottage does have everything you would need.
