Description: We’re committed to using fresh, locally sourced seafood - when available we serve fish straight from the very shoreline you’ll be eating on. We offer a wide selection of cakes, biscuits and take away treats. All homemade by Melanie and her team at the Hive Beach Micro Bakery based in Burton Bradstock. We’re happy to accommodate large parties of diners and we’re dog friendly but we don’t take reservations so it’s advisable to arrive a little early for lunch as we do get busy! Please check our website for up to date opening hours because we do open for dinner during the spring and summer season. Whilst we do our best to reduce the risk of cross-contamination in our restaurants, we cannot guarantee that any of our dishes are free from allergens and therefore cannot accept any liability in this respect. We urge customers with any form of allergies to assess their own level of risk and consume dishes at their own risk. Please ask to speak to the chef on duty if you are in need of any assistance in this regard

“Excellent Brunch but not a lot of choice of breakfast items”
Reviewed July 22, 2014

One of has had the 'full English" breakfast, another had the eggs benedict with smoked haddock. Every single ingredient was superb and perfectly cooked (no watery tomatoes or stale eggs).

You expect to queue and wait once your food is ordered. Together that might take half an hour in total but its definitely work the wait.

“You pay for the view”

The menu is ok but expensive you go for the setting.
For food you would do much better at Rachels in West Bay
It is often crowded

“Don't go to a seafood cafe if you don't like seafood!!”
Reviewed July 20, 2014

Superb, always is.Went today with my girlfriend and had two smoked haddock dishes and two cups of coffee for less than 20 quid.I think when reviewers are moaning about paying 2 pounds for parking then their views shouldn't be taken to seriously!! Give it a go you will LOVE it!

“Fantastic seafood”
Reviewed July 19, 2014

This is a very busy seaside café serving amazing seafood and homemade cakes etc. You may have to wait for a table.

I had the seafood platter of prawns, crab claws and half a lobster. All really fresh, amazing fish. My only criticism is that its sat on the plate, it would have been nice for them to clean the lobster, stomach sac and the black thread vent through the tail to be removed. There's not much else that needs doing.

My family ate tempura hake and some said that it was the best fish and chips they had ever had.

They have a small selection of wine, but its reasonably priced.

Fantastic bakewell tart!

Service was just OK. The food came reasonably quickly, but they were slow to clear away our plates.

“great cafe”
Reviewed July 19, 2014

We have been to the Hive a number of times, and love the simplicity of it. The food was great although wine and beer are not cold enough
