Reviewed June 10, 2013

This is the second time i've stayed at The Bell, I was invited to a corporate Fly Fishing event (local fishery is fantastic) and the Hotel, its staff and the food is faultless.

The staff are very welcoming and freindly - Tiago (bar manager and check in clerk) is a great guy, well worth talking to if he has spare time for both local and world knowledge.

The food...... this is a major plus, it amazing - cooked to perfection and fantastic selection of good food at very reasonable pricing. As is the wine list - very reasonable indeed.

The rooms are nicely decorated, welcoming and spacious (my bathroom was huge - room # 3).... door locks still take a little time to work out...!

Parking is a bit hit or miss but you'll find a spot within a maximum 2 minute walk.

Thank you to all the staff - you make this establishment what it is - well done.

The Bell offers limited but adequate accommodation right in the heart of this pretty Georgian town, famous for its watercress beds. I stayed over a busy weekend as the Alresford Watercress Festival was in full swing and the town was absolutely heaving on the Sunday. There is a small outside patio area at the rear which was very lively with people drinking and generally enjoying themselves. Food looked very good but I arrived too late for a meal on Sunday evening as the restaurant closed before 6.00pm. Very good breakfast the following morning! Overall adequate but a little expensive for what it is hotel wise.

Room Tip: I had a room at the back but imagine some rooms face on to the main road which whilst not busy might...

We stayed here on a Saturday night as it was the perfect location for our evening trip on the Watercress Belle.
There is virtually no parking at the hotel, but the Watercress Line car park is only 200 yds away and costs just £1.50 for 24 hours.
Booking was easy via email, and the welcome at the hotel was warm.
We had Room 7, a double overlooking the rear of the hotel - nice and quiet with no traffic noise.
Spotlessly clean, with a good shower. Tea and Coffee in room, hair dryer, flat screen TV.
Plenty of towels, and toiletries.

My partner Steve & I had a great welcome when we visited The Bell, our room overlooked the high street but we were not disturbed by any traffic noise. Our evening meal was superb especially the local watercress which I had in a souffle heaven on a plate. On saturday we spent the day on the watercress steam railway line travelling from Alresford to Alton a real bit of nostalgia. Thank you everyone at the Bell & the Watercress Line.

A very pleasant Sunday lunch with some good offers during the week. Well appointed and very helpful and friendly staff. Wide ranging menu and a reasonable choice of beers. Only on a day trip so unable to comment on rooms.

We had eaten at The Bell on a previous visit to Alresford and decided to stay this time for two nights. We were not disappointed. The room and en-suite were spotless, the bed was comfy as was the room. Our breakfast was wonderful. A selection of cereals and yoghurt, fresh fruit and juice. Our first morning we had warm croissant's followed by a full English breakfast with a thick tasty sausage and not a baked bean in sight! Will definitely stay again. Thank you The Bell we had a wonderful stay.

Beautiful restaurant and lovely food. The ONLY thing that spoilt the evening was excellent food served on stone-cold plates. Surely a basic requirement???!!!!

I was one of the first to be served my maincourse on a table of around ten people. By the time everyone else had received theirs, mine and two others, were lukewarm which was a real shame.

Hot/warm plates guys. Come on!!
