We had a wonderful time celebrating Carol & Tony's Wedding at the Cricketers on 31st August 2013. Well done to Matt, Mel and their friendly team for all their hard work in making it such a successful event.

The dining area looked lovely with the pink sparkly decorations to match in with the wedding colour scheme. We were greeted with glasses of bubbly and delicious canapes. The rest of the food was scrumptios and plentiful throughout the afternoon and evening.

As it was such a gorgeous sunny day the large garden area was used to its full potential and also provided a good backdrop for the wedding photos.

Such a good venue for a summer wedding reception and would definitely recommend it to others.

We took 26 guests for dinner in the private dining room the night before our wedding. Melanie and her team were FANTASTIC the atmosphere they created was wonderful the food was first class. and nothing was to much trouble. The flowers that she put in the room were beautiful. She helped with the room layout and the seating plans. Her chef coped really well with all the special dietary requirements. Leading up to the event Melanie stayed in contact with me her communication skills are excellent she was ready to offer solutions to problems. I have had lovely letters from our guests saying how much they enjoyed it. We had the house red and white wine which was very reasonably priced and good quality. I cannot fault this venue and will be using it again in November for a birthday celebration. Congratulations to Mel and her team for giving us a wonderful night to remember.

We had lunch here the first time and the food was ok but the desserts we couldn't eat because they just tasted awful. We decide to give it another go but our second visit was worse. In short, we had to wait an hour and a half for garlic bread and onion rings which we ordered because the kids were so hungry and we thought it would be served quickly. The onion rings were dark brown dripping with oil and all stuck together as one. The garlic bread was not even cooked, just warm bread with not much garlic and the cheesy garlic bread was like melted cheese on floppy bread. We then waited another half an hr for our mains, a ploughmans with a ton of fridge burnt cheddar, bread with no butter with it, crisps just chucked on it and soggy salad. My salad was tiny for the price, wilted salad leaves and the whole thing so covered in oil that my mouth felt coated and if you lifted up the salad it dripped oil. We didn't dare risk a dessert. We left angry and felt ripped off. Shame as the play area is great and the waitresses were really friendly.

This is the only drinking and family pub left in Alresford. Since it has been refurbished the food is good and staff are excellent.
