“Without electricity”
Reviewed December 30, 2013 via mobile

This is the nicest hotel for Chaungtha. With that said keep in mind they shut off the electricity from 7am to 1pm then again from 3pm to 6pm. This is the better option since almost all other hotels shuts off from 7am to 6pm. It has a nice relaxing outdoor areas to hang out with a pool, pool table and chairs and tables for larger parties to hang out.

I have been to both Chaungtha and Ngwe Saung beaches and if you are looking for total relaxation don't come to this beach. It is very chaotic and has horse poo and trash everywhere. Since there aren't any trash cans near the beach it just gets tossed everywhere. Plus there are rice processing plants across the way so the leftover black coals washes onto the beach.

This is a larger and more established beach than Ngwe Saung and is used mainly by the locals and back packers alike. There are more restaurants and shops than Ngwe Saung and also more beach activities like wave runners, rafts and bikes.

You have to book Belle way in advance since it books up fast. We got a garden room and it was $65/night. We had more people that wanted to come and the rate was $85/night for the same room a week before. Also know there is a foreigner rate vs. Burmese rate at almost all the beach hotels.

Belle resort is not an overtly famous hotel in Chaung thar beach, like the Max hotel is but i personnaly find it cosy, charming and not lacking in comfort and modern decor.
All their rooms, be it the most expensive beach front villa for 4 pax (around 200 usd) or the garden view rooms at the near back (75 usd), are furnished with good quality furniture, good spacious bathrooms where even the whole family can shower and bathe.
Of course the hotel, like all in chaungthar beach, has designated power cut offs. But it does not bother with your daily enjoyment of lazy beach life.
The free breakfast buffet has a lot of variety (chinese fare of congi, fried rice, veggy dishes, traditional myanmar breakfast items like monhingar, steamed glutinous rice with crispy fried salty fish, and the inevitable toast, eggs station, noodle station and coffee station but NO cereals and milk!) and it sometimes even can substitute as brunch.
Free wi-fi throughout the compound but erratic reception in the rooms and better in the room's balconies.
Swimming pool is great with cute kiddy pool included!
They have a great spa too where u can have a relaxing massage.
We did not eat from the hotel for lunch and dinner but ordered from a local woman who can deliver to ur room fresh delicious seafood dishes thai style, chinese style, grilled or fried, with all plates and cutlery included.(anyone who wants her mobile number can contact me but i'm not sure she is english literate: ) )
Writing this review makes me want to go there again....stayed there already twice already!

When we visited, the raining season was already started, but we were lucky and stayed there for 2 nights and 3 days with no rain. Since it is not a season, not much people and we enjoyed the place and food very much. The local people were great and the hotel strongly suggested not to order food from outside local people, but we did anyway. Lucky! we didn't have any problem with food or the service. We took the sea view room and pay extra, but you could stay behind and still would have a great time. Breakfast Buffet had a lot of choices with Burmese food, Chinese food and others.

Best hotel service with very well trained staff. Accommodation quite similar to bungalow from Bali and excellent hospitality throughout from cleaner to manager. Sea View Bunglaow is the best and Prefer the open type bathroom with garden.

Nice bungalow view on the beach with coconuts trees, with terrasse. Few foreigners most of customers are birmans. Nice and large bedroom with kingsize bed, large bathroom well agenced with separate bath and shower, minibar. Staff is very friendly. Restaurant is correct but prices are upper due to tax and service. Large buffet breakfast. free wifi when electricity is there..
Only problem there is no electricity in Chaugntha beetween 7am and 6pm, Hotel uses a group between 2 and 4pm. But you don't need the sea is there waiting for you

Room Tip: Ask for bungalows on the sea side it's more expensive but the view at sunset from your terrasse...
