If you're after a filling but no frills meal with a drink thrown in for well under a tenner, you'd be hard pressed to beat this place. Others have mentioned that it's sometimes a bit rowdy... well, it's a big, popular, town-centre pub; it's hardly going to offer secluded romantic fine-dining, is it!
By eating early and leaving before 8:30, noise hasn't been an issue for us. The tables at the front can be rather draughty and those towards the rear are wafted by smokers' aromas as they are en route to the 'garden', but by getting there early you can avoid those areas.
The food has always been as described, promptly served by friendly and helpful staff.
