We met the lady (Patti M) who owns the hotel on a guided trip out of La Paz about 1 year ago. Got to know her on the trip and found out about the hotel---she invited us to come stay the next year when we came to Baja Sur. We (4 of us) booked 2 rooms for 3 nights beginning on 10/31/2012 via email and had several email exchanges with Patti prior to arrival--one of which gave us directions on how to find her place in Los Barriles.

We made the mistake of getting to Los Barriles well after dark and missed a couple signs that caused us to be late getting to Los Pescadores but we finally made it and got a "welcome home" type reception with hugs all around. The bartender, Guillermo, helped us with the many bags (2 couples worth) we had and got situated in our very well kept rooms. The rooms are very comfortable, bed and pillows very nice and the bath and shower are reminiscent of typical Mexican hotels.

After getting settled in and having an adult beverage (margarita of course) we met Jill, the chef. Us 2 couples were the only ones staying at the hotel for the first night and Jill had made up a special dinner menu for us....thinking we'd be arriving earlier...but we'd stopped and eaten close to San Jose del Cabo and weren't very hungry. However, we agreed to split two entrees and share some cevice. All were excellent and I'm not much on cevice but her's was very tasty!

Patti went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay including; providing directions to a very nice snorkeling area on the Sea of Cortez a few miles from the hotel, access to her computer to make some reservations at a timeshare in Cabo san Lucas, restaurant suggestions, rounding up kayaks for us at no charge, best bank to get pesos, a small but nice and refreshing pool and a bar that is a drawing card for locals--but they don't stay late. Friday night there was live music until about 10 or so but didn't impact our sleep.

As one other reviewer put it 'you enter as a guest and leave as family'. Hit the nail on the head perfectly. We'll go back and the price is right!

One other little tidbit---while we were there we found out that a specie of Ridley sea turtle had been nesting on the beach not 5 minute walk from the hotel. We went to see what was going on and found that a small group of locals had established a nursery for the eggs that was protected from predators and every day these young people would find the nests where the turtles and laid their eggs, dig them up and bring to the nursery and rebury them to the same depth as they were found. Each nest was given an ID showing lay date, number of eggs and approximate hatch date. In the early evening, just before dark, those nests who had a hatch date for that day were opened and the babies were removed. Unhatched eggs and immature babies were reburied in a little shallower hole to finish their incubation. The really neat thing is we were able to help release ~350 baby turtles that evening...just after dark. What an experience! And what a great thing this small group of locals is doing for the turtles to give them the best chance to survive. We were told that in about 20 yrs these babies (now mature) will return to the same beach to nest. WOW!!

If you want to get away from Cabo, La Paz, San Jose del Cabo for a day or several give Patti and Los Pescadores a try---you will not regret it. Los Pescadores means 'the fishermen' and Patti has a lot of fishermen who stay at her hotel and fish with her....so if you like to fish.....she'll take care of that too.

Room Tip: Best sleeping rooms are furthest away from the bar. Patti is going to be adding more rooms and re-d...

Hotel Los Pescadores is absolutely a place worth visiting. It is especially appealing to those who wish to get away from the big resort lifestyle and get a little more personal with Baja... The hotel itself, newly constructed, with it's stylish Baja flair, is quietly nestled on a ridge near the northern edge of town. It's location allows it the flexibility to maintain a peaceful and serene environment yet puts it just a hop skip and a jump from the local cantinas, cocinas, and mercados. The owner Patti, by far the most accommodating and hospitable host on the East Cape, ensures that the grounds and pool are well manicured and kept pristine. While walking through her courtyard you will be overwhelmed with the aroma of blooming floras. Expect it, this truly is a hidden garden oasis! The hotel also boasts a first rate cocina and cantina where Patti's bartender Guillermo can whip you up one of Baja's best piña coladas or her extremely talented chef can prepare you one of her diverse daily specialties. However, if you are a fisherman and would prefer your own personal catch of the day, prepared your way, she's an artist at that too. Also, for all you Pescadores like myself she will also be packing your lunch and trust me when I say, “You will not be disappointed.”

Speaking of fishing, Hotel Pescadores offers some of the finest, hard fighting, big game pelagic fishing the East Cape has to offer. Of all the places I have fished on the Baja, Patti’s captains, both Lavo and Armando have consistently provided me with bigger and better fish! These Pescadores are among some of the finest with whom I have fished! They work hard to keep you happy and fish even harder. Both guys have eyes like a frigate bird that are always on the water! Both are very professional, courteous and respectful. and of course superb fishermen, not to mention very good photographers. Simply give them your camera, tell them you want lots of pictures and they take care of the rest. Pescadores’ fleet consists of two center console super pangas with shaded decks in 23 and 26 ft length. Both boats come equipped and ready for what ever species of fish you’re after from blue water marlin and tuna to the inshore brawlers Roosterfish and Cabrilla however, these guys are very accommodating to the do it yourselfers who wish to bring and use their own tackle, myself included. I’ll see you there!

We had an unexpected stop over in Los Barilles. What a treat! Patty has done an amazing job at creating a beautiful and serene oasis. Not too much, not too little... Just right. Relaxing, beautifully maintained and exceptionally hospitable. Thank you for an amazing experience.

We stayed at Los Pescadores in November 2011, and decided to return for New Years eve! We stayed there 2 nights and as in previous time, it was lovely and relaxing, the owner Patty was very nice and friendly. By now we have already became friends, and what we appreciate the most is that we can stay with them with our golden retriever. Patty has couple of friendly dogs, and there was no problem with our dog being around.

The only suggestion I would have is that on special occasions or on holidays when they have more guests, they get a chef, at least to have more options for breakfast (they do have a chef on special organized movie nights). The nightly fee includes breakfast, which is cereals (very good) and fruit, juice and coffee, which is of course great and we loved it, but on the morning of January 1st we were craving for something stronger like scrambled eggs or chilaquiles. Nothing was open in town, and I think it would be a great option for their guests to just stay and have breakfast at the hotel.

we regret not being able to stay here more than one night this trip, as this little place is a jewel. Patti is a rich and gracious host and the room was wonderful, especially the nice soft bed.. which are hard to find in mexico. we will be back.

Room Tip: just ask Patti for the best

We pulled into Los Barriles after a long day of driving and beaching from Cabo, spending the last night of our vacation at this wonderful oasis. We walked into the courtyard are were greeted by Guillermo, who knew our names even though he had never met us. He took us to our room, just steps from the common areas & pool and made us feel right at home.

That is what you'll get with Hotel Los Pescadores; the feeling of being home. We had drinks at the bar just steps from our room, and as the evening progressed, more peeple joined the bar for before-dinner drinks and perhaps a dinner suggestion.I love the fact Patti opens her hotel to dogs and people, and enjoyed her furry freinds so much! The pre-dinner crowd thinned out about 8:00 pm, giving us a quiet night on our lovely patio by the pool.

After a great night sleep in the very comfortable bed, we returned to the common area for a delicious breakfast. Patti made us feel like we were staying at her home, not a hotel. And although we had never met her, she treated us like friends.

There is a very special vibe to this place, and may not be to eveyone's liking. If you don't like dogs, or people, and just want the anonymity of a huge resort, you might consider somewhere larger. If you are looking for a special place at a great price and amazing food & beverage, and don't mind a few friendly paws saying hi, I highly reccomend it.

We'll be staying with our new friends whenever we find ourselves in the Cape!

Just got back from another great trip to Hotel Los Pescadores and Patti's warm and friendly hospitality. Hotel Los Pescadores is truly magical - from the hotel, the surroundings - to the staff and hospitality. Special thanks to Patti - the owner. Patti allowed us to use her panga and captain Lavo for the A.L.M.A charity Catch & Release fishing tournament on Oct. 29th and we won. I was lucky enough to fish with Dewy - Patti's neighbor and a great guy and a great fisherman and we had the most fun ever! The icing on the cake..... Dewy and I won - can you believe it and first prize was an entry to the Bisbee East Cape next July ! Hopefully we will be able to fish with Patti and Lavo again.
If you want to have a great time, with great people, great surroundings, the coldest beer and most wonderful staff - you have to try Hotel Los Pescadores. Did I mention that she has the MOST comfortable beds ever ! You may arrive as a guest but you will leave as family.
