We've rented this house twice now and it is AMAZING! It is right on the beach - I love having my morning coffee looking out at the sea. Sometime you'll see pods of whales and nearly every day you will see the rays leaping from the water, but that's in the evening. There is a new pool in the back of the property that has a tanning deck (with a removable umbrella for the fair skinned or kids) and it also has a locked gate so you don't have to worry about the kids getting out there unsupervised. There are plenty of loungers and tables at the pool and everything inside and outside at this home is in top condition! There are 6 bedrooms, each with their own bath, a laundry room, a kitchen with more utensils than you could ever possibly need and a dishwasher! The owner is super accommodating and provides beach towels and other necessities. She has a very reasonable priced shopping service where you can request specific products/items and she will stock the house with food so no shopping is necessary when you arrive. This is awesome and leaves you more time for vacation! There is also the option of having her chef cook some or all meals for you. This is not expensive and on some days it's the perfect solution. She can arrange quad rentals, transportation from the airport, pretty much everything and she's very friendly and easy to deal with. Both times we've spent here have been the most perfect vacations our family has ever had. So relaxing! We did rent quads and the guys went on a fishing trip. There are many authentic Mexican restaurants/taco stands within a mile or so. One tip I have: a car rental is NOT necessary. It's cheaper to arrange transportation to and from the airport and then rent ATV's for getting around town.
Stayed here for this past week with my girlfriend and family, and we all had a blast! Mary, the woman who owns the villa, was incredible and went above and beyond to make our experience exceptional! She showed us all of the local places and incredible hole in the wall restaurants. El Geko was our favorite with such personable staff that put on quite a show with their spiked fire coffee (highly recommend!!!!) and to top it all off it's within walking distance! Mary was also very helpful in arranging day activities and communicating with the local businesses for us. For example, she helped us rent ATVs so we could explore the Arroyo and a horseback riding trip along the beach.
The house sits right on the beach which we had all to ourselves. It was clean, well maintained, and well stocked with beach chairs, towels, snorkeling equipment and other fun stuff. Ultimately we had a blast and I would highly recommend staying here. I know I'll be going back.
I stayed at Casa de las Palmas at the end of August 2015 with close friends. Friends from college, we were turning 40 in 2015 and a great friend of mine, whose dad is friends with the home owner, Mary, was turning 40 in August, so we booked the house to celebrate and vacation. I could not have dreamt of a better vacation. From the fishing and quads/side x side excursions to just enjoying and relaxing at the house we had an amazing vacation.
June, 2016, I just wrapped up my second vacation to Casa de Las Palmas with the same friends. Again, had an unbelievable time. The house/property is gorgeous. It's completely gated, so great for families with kids. Located on the beach, the ocean view from sunrise, through the day to sunset is.......well there are no words to describe.
The property itself is expertly manicured and maintained. The property has a beautiful pool and between the backyard (facing the ocean) and the pool, my friends and I spent much time just relaxing and enjoying our vacation. In addition, the ocean was as calm as a lake. Also, there is a band of rocks, close to shore that is great for snorkeling. Provided is snorkeling gear as well as 2 person kayaks and SUPs to enjoy the ocean. Throughout the days, depending on time of year, we observed, far out, whales, manta rays, bill fish, etc. jumping out of the water. Very cool to witness.
For excursions, Mary has great relationships with local businesses and can assist with making recommendations. Fishings been great and between the two trips. We landed Yellowfin Tuna, Wahoo, Grouper, Dorado and billfish. The snorkeling excursion Mary helped set up was also amazing. Her contact picked us up from the house and drove us to Cabo Pulmo, a spectacular snorkeling/diving reef. We saw a great variety of tropical fish, followed a school of 10's of thousands of Big Eyed Jack (indescribable experience), snorkeled with sea lions, and followed sea turtles. 4 snorkeling stops in all.
As for dining, not even a debate. Book Mary's chef. As foodies he exceeded all our expectations. We hired him for breakfast and dinner. We also brought him our fishing catch and he prepared out of this world sashimi.
Mary is simply awesome. She works tirelessy to ensure an amazing vacation. Living in Los Barilles, Mary has a finger on the pulse of the town. Essential for networking to provide the best excursions and be hands on to welcome guests to a beautiful home.
