After reading some of the reviews my husband and I didn't know what to expect. We were very impressed with our whole stay here. The staff are the most helpful and friendliest people around. We were treated wonderfully. The beach is amazing, lots and lots of chairs, miles to walk, clean and not to crowed. Even though the hotel was full there still was enough space between people to be comfortable. The only thing that I did not care for was there were 3 women who thought it was okay to go topless. I personally found them to be distgusting as this is a family resort with lots of kids around. If you want to be like that, go to a nude beach so the rest of us don't need to look at you. The food was great. The buffets had tons to choose from and the food varied every day. They make the best pizza. The only thing that we won't rave about is the al le cartes. They were good but not like the DREAMS as we were used to. We didn't have to much to choose from and had to make reservations. We ate at the flamingo and sir george. We never tried the asian place as we don't eat sushi. We were concerned about having stuff stolen from some of the reviews we read but never had a problem or heard of anyone else having one. We definatly locked all our valuables up though. The bar staff was great always had people coming down to the beach to see if we wanted something. The entertainment staff was always walking around and talking to everybody. We did notice managers always around in the buffet area and court yard asking how everything is going. As other reviews the wine was not good at all. I found the beds not a problem they didn't seem to hard, we had a junior sweet with king bed. The rooms were pleasent not as good as I was expecting but nothing to complain about. Never had a problem with noise. Everyday our room was made up and our fridge restocked. We asked for extra water and beer and always got it. Never had to call down for anything. We would come back here, and we were glad to look past the negative reviews because there are some people who no matter what they get will never be happy. I am a picky person and would not have any prolem recomending this hotel to anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We just returned from Mexico and had a fabulous vacation at the Riu Vallarta. Rooms are spacious and the housekeeping was top-notch. Staff was friendly and fun from the moment we arrived. Food was plentiful and tasty. If you can't find something to eat here, you must be super picky and that is sad. The Steak House Restaurant at the beach is a must. I had the Rib-eye steak and it was really good!! Plenty of chairs at the beach. Did notice that the pool area filled up early, but that's par for the course it seems. Plenty of palm trees for shad or you can rent an umbrella for $10.00 for the entire day. Grounds are very clean and well groomed. The usual activities available all day. We stayed in rooms 5061-5062-5063 and had a courtyard/partial ocean view. We will definitely return

This was our fourth time at Riu Vallarta and we stayed for four weeks. We can't say enough about how good the service, food and entertainment is. The staff go out of their way to make sure you're having a good time. The food is always excellent at this hotel and the rooms are always clean. This year was special because there is a local kitty who visits each night about 8:00 pm and the hotel don't mind if you feed him. He'll cuddle with you and give you lots of love, so if you're missing your pet, be sure to find this little guy.

My husband and I spent 2 weeks at the Riu Vallarta from Jan 26 to Feb 9th. The waiters were excellent and the service was great. We were very dissappointed at the hotel managers excuses for the lousy bed. He told us that in Spain people slept on hard beds and it is to be expected. We then waited 3 days for a foam mattress topper, and then finally ordered 12 more pillows to sleep on. The hotel really needs sound proofing as you can hear everything at all hours of the day, or night. If your looking for a peaceful relaxing vacation, Iwould not suggest this hotel to anyone.

Room Tip: Ocean front rooms are better in the north tower, but smelled musty.

This year was different in that we saw lots of businesses and residences for sale/rent on our trip from the airport. Times are hard for the locals and the hotel shows some financial difficulties. Seems like fewer employees, limited food choices (lots of fish, no bacon so they put cut up hot dogs in the scrambled eggs on some days!), and less generous stocking of the refrigerator in the rooms. I asked for foam pads on our beds but the maid brought extra blankets that she put under the sheets. The next day I asked again and we got the foam pads. I was disturbed to see employees unlocking our bolted door when it had a do not disturb sign on the door handle. The guys who restock the fridge never knock, just unlock the door and enter the room. There was no paella party on the beach this year, no drinks in coconut shells for beach parties, and no every hour organized activities. The price is right, the hotel is beautiful, the people are great and the beach is private, so for me it's a 50/50 proposition whether or not to return. That said, the employees are fabulous. My father was in a wheelchair this time and absolutely everyone went out of their way to be helpful, kind and friendly to both of us.

Room Tip: Junior Suites are located in the center section of the hotel and have a straight on view of the beac...

Lots of variety in the buffet each meal. Breakfast was by far the best! They had various scrambled eggs prepared but you could also have an omellette made with your choice of ingredients as well as having your eggs fried to your liking. Lots of fruits, cheese, breads, cold meats, salsa, cereal, etc., etc. The freshly made juices available were incredible. Service is excellent and staff are all very friendly. They said they have 3 ala carte restaurants, but one of them, an Asian restaurant, is buffet - just so-so. The steak is not good - grissley and fatty though have nice favour. The housewine, which is all they offer in the bars and restaurants is HORRIBLE. Both red and white. I am not a wine snob and buy inexpensive wines, but I couldn't get past the first sip - even tried again another night with food - nope! We were told in the buffet that we could get bottled wine in the ala cartes, but it was only their housewine, as I asked, except for, I believe, they poored us one glass of a little better wine in the so-called SteakHouse which was the outdoor Flamingo restaurant where they offered their buffet lunches. We did get served (instead of a buffet) in this "steakhouse" and sat by the ocean/beach which was lovely. The service was excellent everywhere. The poolside bar staff were extremely friendly and gave great service. Nice hotel. If you want quietness before 11pm, you are out of luck, as the rooms surround a courtyard where they have a bar and also an outdoor stage. Things get quiet after that, though. The bar closes at midnight but the music seemed to stop at11pm. We weren't in our room that early, but just a warning for earlybirds. If you go on the tours offered by Vallarta Adventures, they are amazing! They also offer food and booze, so if you are into tours, an all-incl may not be worth your while. Taking the buses (2 of them - must transfer) downtown to Puerto Vallarta is a fun experience. It's about a 45 minute ride in total for the 2 buses, but worth the trip. Nice and safe in Puerto Vallarta. Security was good at night coming off the street into the hotel, as we were asked one night for our wristbands, but I didn't notice any security coming off the beach.

Room Tip: If you want to go to bed very early, don't get a courtyard room. Music plays until 11pm and the...

You just can't please some people! We spent Jan. 31st - Feb. 7th there and had a GREAT TIME! The staff was always on hand thanking us for coming, asking if we needed anything. The entertainment staff was always mingling throughout the resort kidding and chatting with the guests. All the games were fun, the evening entertainment was above average, especially the Michael Jackson show! The buffet food, lunch/dinner, was above average. Of course I didn't like everything I tried but there was so much to choose from you certainly could find something you liked. We visited 3 Al a carte restaurants, the Steak House food and view was by far the best. You get out of it what you put into it, if you are there with a good attitude of wanting to have fun instead of being a snobby critic you should definitely have a GREAT VACATION! We will definitely visit again! Enjoy and Saludos!

Room Tip: Yes, the rooms facing the court yard are a bit noisey but that is all over by 11:00 and if you close...
