Very beautiful place,just to big for me. I stayed in tower three at the luxxe, room 7290. It was a very nice room with a partial kitchen. We had one of those plunge pool on balcony. To cold to get in.

The property is landscaped and maintained to a high standard. The exceptions are views or occurrences of ongoing construction during tram rides. The pools are plentiful, clean and designed with style; some with swim up bars. Our immense suite was on first floor behind the lobby in Tower Four. It was the master suite and adjoining master room that created the space of a contemporary apartment with large furnishings, decked patios and a plunge pool. The suite lighting, shower(s) and spa tub were exceptional. There was closet space with plenty of clothes hangers, chest of drawers, iron, ironing board, hair blow dryer & magnifying mirror, robes, tissues, and soaps. The kitchen had coffee maker and a Nespresso espresso maker, microwave, small stove, medium size refrigerator, and a decent array of utensils. There is no oven, dishwasher, washer or dryer in suite.

The service was just OK. Staff was polite and did for us only what was necessary. There was no personal concierge assigned to our floor that we were aware of. This was an offseason vacation and the crowds were absent. Perhaps the staff didn't try as hard during offseason conditions or we were left to ourselves because we voiced our opinion of and turned down the sales presentation. Nevertheless, we learned the layout and the on property transportation system ( the tram). Our wait times for the tram were short and sometimes instantaneous. State your desired destination and the tram will whisk you away towards it; sometimes non stop and sometimes you have to connect with another one! It will take some time to exit the property for taxi or private transportation when you need to stock up with groceries or explore the surrounding areas.

The ocean and surrounding water was murky during this time of year (early September) due to rainfall. The beach itself is still great though, and the Grand Luxxe swimming pools are just spectacular.The pools have nice lounge chairs (some actually deigned in the water), umbrellas and other amenities. If you don't swim up to the bar to order, an attendant will order spirits and food for you via a Segway PT!

The ocean beyond Grand Luxxe was much clearer and you can travel via bus, taxi, or other arranged private transportation to enjoy off property excursions & culture.

Not a lot to do without paying a lot extra. Resorts did not go out of their way to keep things for us to do. GREAT staff!! Everyone very nice. Food was good. Just kind of boring. Guests wanted more water sports but they insisted on catering to 60+ age group. Guess if you are in your 30s-40s this isn't really the best place to go. But they did have free wifi in the rooms which was good. We had a room with balcony, splash pool on the deck, the works. We ended up hearing the pool drain and fill the whole time. Room was big though.

Over 2 hour wait from the time of arrival to get into my room, because of some more sales tactics in the lobby. Beautiful room with out any sound proofing and NO hot water to take a bath in the soaker tub. Didnt sleep at night because of partiers next door, tried to sleep in the afternoon but room service(which I didnt order) came walking in) Unexceptable! Went to one of the resturants and was served dinner, but they never served my husband his. And every morning having breakfast with a sale person at every table was more than we could stomach. We were supposed to stay 2 weeks and left after 5 days. I would NEVER go back. It was aweful. No holiday here.

Room Tip: stay anywhere else.

This is the 3rd time I have stayed at the Grand Luxxe. A family member is a timeshare owner there. I'll skip details on the inevitable sales pitch as that seems to be well-covered here.

This could become a 4 or even 5 star resort with a few improvements. The biggest area of deficiency is the service. All of the employees are pleasant, hard working and gracious but they lack proper training necessary to compete with hotels at that level. This goes for everyone from the waiters to the bellmen, to the people driving the on-site trams, to the front desk personnel and the concierge. At it's simplest they don't have answers to many basic questions. To make matters worse they tend to tell you what you want to hear, regardless of whether it is accurate. I blame management, not the workers. They need to bring in some experienced folks from great hotels in other parts of the world to get the service up to par.

Another weak area is the food - most on-property options are over-priced with overly complex menus and bland food. It is like they are pretending to be fine food, but don't really know what that means. This is important because the way the resort is designed you have to take on-site transportation (a fleet of golf-cart-esque trams) to get to the gate, where you can get a taxi. They (most likely intentionally) make it very difficult for you to leave. You have to transfer twice and it literally adds a half hour to your travel time in both directions.

More details:

Rooms: The four Grand Luxxe towers are all less than 5 years old and generally in good condition. Rooms are spacious and well appointed. Towels and linens are of good quality. Air conditioning works well. Kitchenette serves it's purpose. Most rooms have large balconies that have their own plunge pool and great views of the ocean or hotel grounds. Areas that can be improved: Wifi speed and reliability, more power outlets.

Lobbies: Well designed and appealing.

Pools: Property features more pools than I can count. They are beautifully designed and well maintained, if a bit crowded at peak hours. Most have a bar and waiter service, but none have pool attendants, so you have to fend for yourself when it comes to finding chairs, towels, umbrella's etc. Fail: Most of the chairs don't have cushions and those that do only cover the top half of the chair.

Grounds: Gorgeous, spectacular greenery. Among the best landscaping I've seen at a resort. Functional (if winding and often mis-marked) walking paths allow you to take it all in as you go from place to place.

Clientele: Mostly multi-generational families vacationing together. Many retired couples as well.
