The amenities were vast. The suites were decorated in an upscale manner focusing on serenity. The housekeeping, concierge, activity, and waitstaff are simply amazing. Customer service is taken very seriously. Bernardo and Alberto are names that come to mind. They were dedicated to making our stay the best it could possibly be. The grounds were lush and well cared for. The restaurants, bar services, activities, and fitness center were top notch. We will certainly find our way back next year.

Room Tip: 6th floor or above, ocean view

My family and I stay at the Grand Luxxe two weeks every year and we love everything! The Modesto Bar in Tower One is awesome with the two wonderful and knowledgeable bartenders there,Jose and Jairo! They are always happy and attentive to everyone at the bar! Miguel our concierge was just the very best and very attentive to all our needs! We are sad to leave them every year and always look forward to returning home because we feel like family! Will go again in May 2014 for two weeks and four weeks in 2015!

Room Tip: Higher Floors have better views!

Every time we visit this beautiful resort we are more amazed! The rooms and furnishings are luxurious, and the patio plunge pool is a secluded treat. The grounds facing the Bay of Banderas are scrupulously tended with an eye to ecology. We participated in a baby turtle release, a very rewarding experience. The food is delicious and patio dining areas are soooo romantic by moonlight. To top off everything, the staff at every level are kind, gracious and extremely competent.

I stayed at the Grand Luxxe for almost two weeks with my sister and brother-in-law who own a timeshare there. They've invested a lot of money in this property over the years as they seem to upgrade everytime they get "suckered" into one of their meetings. One thing I really dislike about Mexico is the timeshare part of it. They're like "vultures" ready to eat their prey. My sister spent 6-7 hours at this meeting. The resort and hotel itself is absolutely wonderful. We had access to multiple huge pools, including a nice kids pool (I had my 5 year old son) equipped with a lazy river, kids' area and slides at the Grand Mayan. The activity people including Fatima, Antonio and Fernando were wonderful. The housekeepers were great. However, we had a lot of problems with the room when we checked in. Air conditioning problems, televisions not working and not to mention the noise from the construction. Perhaps it was opened too prematurely? When we needed help, although the concierge was nice, we found them very limited in what they could do for us. They always seemed to have to ask someone else to find out the answer and it took forever to get anything done. My sister was promised free massages, reimbursement of a deposit (go figure) for a timeshare she was persuaded to attend and she was to have some money credited to her account and much more. She spoke to person after person who persuaded her things would be taken care of but in the end when she spoke to another it wasn't. They would say there's nothing on the computer?? Shouldn't all the computers be running on the same software? They would tell you that you need to speak with so-and-so. Between running from Tower 1, 2 and 3 and spending endless hours sorting the problems out, it ruined our vacation. For example, my sister was kind enough to offer my husband one of the massages she received when she upgraded her timeshare and was when he went to the spa, he was told it wasn't in the computer and had to come back, sort the problem out and go again. My sister was so frustrated dealing with them, she was almost in tears. Although it was a nice gesture that they left us champagne, fruits and cheeses after the mess, it does not make up for all the time lost. I guess also you have to realize everything at this resort is quite far apart so it takes a great deal of time going back and forth. Although they have golf carts running every now and then, there is no set schedule and a lot of times you would be standing waiting for a long time. So all in all, it's a great resort with friendly staff but quality of service needs improvement big time.

The Grand Luxxe is an absolutely incredible resort. New, clean, contemporary. The service staff are extremely friendly and always looking for ways to be of service. Yes, there is some construction on the property, but it never caused a problem or disrupted the experience. My partner and I went for the first time in May 2013 and couldn't wait to return again at the end of September.

Let me just start by saying that we have been owners at various levels since May of 2010. This is our third visit to the Nuevo Vallarta property, but the first two were stays at the Grand Mayan. With that in mind, without a doubt, this has been the worst 1st day in our history with Mayan properties.

When we arrived, there was confusion with our reservation. Although I had made the reservation under my name, when we arrived at the valet to check-in, the reservation was under my wife's last name, which is different from my own.

Grand Luxxe in Nuevo Vallarta currently has four (4) buildings .... Punta, Bldg 1, Bldg 2, and Bldg 3, which is still under construction. As owners, we expected more than to be given a choice of a Bldg 3 view of the construction site from the 6th floor, or a Bldg 3 1st floor room. Ironically, we ran into a family who had traded in with RCI, and were in Bldg 2, much to our amazement, since we were told that the resort was full and no other (better) rooms were available to a member/owner.

When we were brought to our room by a (supposed) manager, he informed us that Bldg 3 was not under construction, but merely some of the rooms were being renovated. There are multiple cranes over Bldg 3, so perhaps there is a communication gap between the word construction in English and whatever it might equate to in Spanish.

Earlier this year we were guests at the Grand Luxxe in Riviera Maya and had a wonderful experience. Prior to our arrival in Nuevo Vallarta, we were provided feedback from friends who had visited both Grand Luxxe properties, and informed us that Riviera Maya was better than Nuevo Vallarta. We hoped for the best, but alas, their insights were extremely accurate.

My wife's birthday is in 4 days. It may be wishful thinking, but hopefully our experience at Grand Luxxe in Nuevo Vallarta will improve by then.
