The Grand Luxxe is an absolutely incredible resort. New, clean, contemporary. The service staff are extremely friendly and always looking for ways to be of service. Yes, there is some construction on the property, but it never caused a problem or disrupted the experience. My partner and I went for the first time in May 2013 and couldn't wait to return again at the end of September.

Let me just start by saying that we have been owners at various levels since May of 2010. This is our third visit to the Nuevo Vallarta property, but the first two were stays at the Grand Mayan. With that in mind, without a doubt, this has been the worst 1st day in our history with Mayan properties.

When we arrived, there was confusion with our reservation. Although I had made the reservation under my name, when we arrived at the valet to check-in, the reservation was under my wife's last name, which is different from my own.

Grand Luxxe in Nuevo Vallarta currently has four (4) buildings .... Punta, Bldg 1, Bldg 2, and Bldg 3, which is still under construction. As owners, we expected more than to be given a choice of a Bldg 3 view of the construction site from the 6th floor, or a Bldg 3 1st floor room. Ironically, we ran into a family who had traded in with RCI, and were in Bldg 2, much to our amazement, since we were told that the resort was full and no other (better) rooms were available to a member/owner.

When we were brought to our room by a (supposed) manager, he informed us that Bldg 3 was not under construction, but merely some of the rooms were being renovated. There are multiple cranes over Bldg 3, so perhaps there is a communication gap between the word construction in English and whatever it might equate to in Spanish.

Earlier this year we were guests at the Grand Luxxe in Riviera Maya and had a wonderful experience. Prior to our arrival in Nuevo Vallarta, we were provided feedback from friends who had visited both Grand Luxxe properties, and informed us that Riviera Maya was better than Nuevo Vallarta. We hoped for the best, but alas, their insights were extremely accurate.

My wife's birthday is in 4 days. It may be wishful thinking, but hopefully our experience at Grand Luxxe in Nuevo Vallarta will improve by then.

We own at Grand Bliss but were upgraded to Grand Luxxe because the GB is not open yet. We were put in the GL 3 which is still under construction! That's right there is still construction in the building as well as right below us! There was some noise but not terrible and with a one year old and a three year old we made plenty noise ourselves. The view of the city, river, jungle, bay were beautiful during all parts of the day with beautiful sunrises and lightening flashes over the city on two evenings. The service and friendliness of the staff is exceptional. The units are huge and have lovely furnishings and art work. We had a 2 bedroom suite with a large plunge pool on the patio. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, etc. and a full size fridge but you still need to bring a knife from home or buy one at Walmart if you want to do any serious cooking/food prep. The pools at the GL are fabulous. The spa opened today and is so small you can only enter if you have scheduled a treatment/massage by appointment. The resort has grown so large that they have shuttles between locations but even today off season my family waited over 35 minutes for one before giving up and going to a closer pool. Bottom line we enjoyed our week here but not hassle free as previous trips had been to Grand Mayan and Grand Bliss. We are very happy that we own Grand Bliss and Not the ridiculously overpriced Grand Luxxe!

This place has the ultimate in luxuries, but you get the feeling that everything is artificial. I live in Mexico, and here you feel that you are isolated from all things Mexican. Not my style.
Restaurants are VERY expensive.
Kinda like "Disneyland with $20 hamburgers"

The grounds are beautiful, the views wonderful, and the service superior if, and this is a big if, you are an owner. My family and I stayed for a week and changed suites several times until finally we were placed in a suite where you could 1) see the ocean and 2) not have a view that was obstructed by construction. I have no doubt this resort will be wonderful when it is finished but in the meantime, the next 3-5 years, if you are planning and visit and do not own, plan to be disappointed with your suite location. Also, due to its size, plan to wait for a shuttle from resort to resort (there are four I believe on the grounds). Traveled during low season and cannot imagine how long it takes for transportation when the resorts are fully booked. Speaking of transportation, if you rent and car and need to park, hope 1) they can find your vehicle (they lost ours 3x), hope it does not rain (they have not figured out the traffic flow for when it does), and hope you do not have an appointment that you need to get to quickly. As for the restaurants, they have one five star establishment, several decent but overpriced restaurants, and one - the burger one (read another review I have posted) that is absolutely dreadful. It is the treatment and service in this restaurant that convinced me to never stay in the Grand Luxxe again, that and the fact that without ownership, your requests are relatively unimportant. As a frequent traveler, I have to be honest and state that I will probably never visit Puerto Vallarta/Nuevo Vallarta again, not enough to keep us entertained and all factions are seriously money hungry (car rental costs, etc.) But if you do decide to visit, this is probably not the best choice unless you are an owner or purchase property rights while you are there. If, however, you are owners, the likelihood of your enjoying your stay is significantly improved.

Room Tip: Ownership will transform your stay but be careful, the time share group is relentless.

Just got back from a week at the Grand Luxxe. Stayed in a 3 bedroom in the Punta building so needless to say everything was top notch. From the pickup at the airport to the checking in process, everything went smoothly. Facilities are some of the best we have ever stayed in. Equal to 5 star. My concierge Jorge was excellant and was always ready to help me with anything i needed. Maid service was fantastic, 3 times per day to clean, change towels, and turn down service at night with chocolates on the pillow. Only draw back was alot of the activities and restaurants were closed due to this being low season and they were doing maintenance to get ready for their busy season. Getting around the property was super easy with the shuttles and going to town or on adventures was also a breeze with the taxi service at the resort. Didnt really encounter any noise from the construction due to where our building was located, but there is alot of construction going on at the resort. We had most of the pools and areas to ourselves as it very slow at this time of the year. Overall id highly recommend this property but would go back at a different time of year when more activities where available.

Room Tip: If you can got tower 1 or punta buliding.
